You can now use TRAX instruments to make sample packs
It's with great pride we announce that effective from June 1, 2023, all F9 playable instruments and kits have been granted license for usage in the development of audio loops. These loops can be included in commercial sample packs designed for your personal use, your individual sampler store, or for third-party platforms such as Loopcloud, Splice, Arcade, NI sounds and more. There's only one restriction to bear in mind: the midi. When creating for these releases, you must compose original musical or rhythmic parts and avoid using any midi or musical motifs from this or any other F9 release.
This updated licensing term now encompasses stem creation and "track-outs," which are frequently seen in beat marketplaces. It also applies to ghost production and collaborative projects. Our goal is to provide you with even greater flexibility and creative potential in your music production endeavours.

Thank you so much for the exceedingly generous and thorough response explaining how the horns are achieved and your meticulous methods. I really enjoyed reading that. I've also been really enjoying and making great use of this and and your EDII packs. Very happy with the purchases. Would you also be willing to share where the strings all come from in these fantastic demos?

Strangely enough been a DJ for 41 years, we don't look unlike each other, lol, started having a go at production in December 2023 and started remixing tracks I have played over the years, had a residency in 2 nightclubs for 25 years which seen about 3000 punters per week so hopefully know how to rock a dancefloor, played a lot of Freemasons tracks in those days, and still do on my Mixcloud sessions. Purchased Logic in December crash course on KZbin, Beginner to Ninja course is awesome, purchased some of your sample packs and started off a KZbin channel featuring my remixes and a few original tracks using your packs. They are awesome as well as the literature and support that go with them. The channel started off with 3 subscribers' in December and now has hit over 2000, i have no musical training other than DJ ears, thank you for the tools and care and strive for perfection on these packs you create. you might recognise your samples on this track i created from scratch kzbin.info/www/bejne/o4GbhnWFq7-ZY68si=3C16eHG2RsZjptI_

I saw that pop up this weekend ! ... they have it on sale about twice a year - amazing thing - if you push it really hard it can do incredible things on loops - Also very good on individual drum sounds as it seems to have some internal clipping going on - I'm convinced the original hardware unit was used by Portishead on their first album to crush that breakbeat to pieces

This is incredible! James I have a feeling you like a challange.... F9 Audio products are world class and have been focused on genres & sub genres of house music and rightly so IMO. What about if you guys at F9 Audio dedicated a whole realease dedicated to a Freemasons track, for exaple 'Love On My Mind'. Going through the whole process again and recreating an Iconic Freemasons track in the vien of F9 Audio. I think that would be epic. X

James: this is an OUTSTANDING walkthrough. The range and quality is perfect. Vive la French House revolution! Question: how did you approach the usual latency issues of recording hardware, and also the external processing, and having the returning audio be precisely lined up - essential for all loop-based samples.

What strings and horns were used for these world class demos?
@F9Audio
@F9Audio 2 ай бұрын
A whole mixture including live recordings and even physical modelling .. I wil try and barin dump some techniques asap, Horns are particulrly intersting if using just Sampled horn patches - I play each part of the line in without quantise ( emulating the natural variance between players. ) and then edit everything for a good while . For disco, you need really short notes, but also you must know where the interplay comes from between those very short staccato notes and slightly longer ones - you need to do lots of homework on this by listening to the greats - earth wind and fire / Quincey jones / Salsoul are great starting points. There have been fashions in brass arranging over the year. Then If possible I'll edit the sampler patches to add random pitch detunes per note - only a few cents but this is what happens with a real brass section in full flight ( Trombones in particular ) and is alwasy missed by sample library creators . In Kontakt this is possible with the 1st Pitch module. I"ll also add a midi LFO thorwing out a very low level Bipolar Random wave sent to pitch bend. Mix wise - Pan the elements about in a shallow stereo position to emuate a line of brass, group and add some careful compression ( LA-2A or other slightly slower optical comp a great idea ) distortion, band limiting and stone room reverb is a great start, followed by some fab 70s plate reverb ( Super Plate by sound toys is the best ) ... and don't be afaid of peaking EQ to bring out the upper mids - again listen to classic records to see how they were mixed - by the time the tape had been over the heads a thousand times at the end of the 70s manual mix, a suprising amount of air was lost on most sources

Hey, great production and incredible work. But for using these stuff in our own production it would have been cool if you would have make playable sounds for the sampler (like bass, keys, strings, brasses etc). And not only loops and chops. That would be imazing !! Could you offer that ? :-)
@F9Audio
@F9Audio 9 ай бұрын
For strings and brass like this we simply cannot cover it - it would cost tens of thousands of pounds to develop due to the quality of players required - that would push such a pack way over £500 as a price point - there’s a reason why the best string libraries cost so much

Hi Tim - one of the Apple Loops was damaged and didn’t play, two naming issues and some changes to the Kontakt scripts .. on the update email well nearly always add a little note about the changes … the broken Apple Loop on one system caused a very loud output so wanted to fix asap

@@F9Audio Ah, apologies as I clearly didn't read the email. I am an Ableton user, to I'll just stick with the download I have for now. Thanks for the clairification, and for everything you do! You've changed the sample pack game!! With regards to the Akai filter you speak of, I actually bought an Electrix Filter Factory about 10 years ago, on the back of a recommendation from Dave Lee, but it hasn't been set up in my studio since I moved house over 2 years ago...you've inspired me to set mine up and start using it again! Thanks :)

Thank you Tim - Ever so kind of you to say .... YES, grab that filter, zap stuff in and out and have a ton of fun - It's amazing how much joy you can get out of these things - the AKAI filter has amazed me - it was designed to work alongside the MPC 2000s - just great to see interest in all of this ear come back - even High Contrast, the D+B artist has become really interested with the french sound - there's just a funk to it that we all love - Definately going to use external studios again to mix .. What bass synths were used for these fantastic demos?
@F9Audio
@F9Audio 9 ай бұрын
Thank you for the kind words - Synth wise there's a few - A Lovely Vintage Roland JX8P I picked up locally in Brighton - I used the JX8p for a few years early 90s so I know it backwards. Also Balck Corps' Xeres that is a remake of the Elka Synthex .. There are also some old 90s patches from Sampler libaraies on the bits that sound a bit liek Justice that were mangled through an Overtayer Modular channel and some live bass parts from a Paul Nash custom bass lent to me by Guy Pratt and a few bits from the patches from our F9 TRAX Electric Disco II release - agai mangled by the Overstayer Channel - Its the SSL that really gave it all life though - the dynamics EQ and VCAs on that desk are glorious to bring a mix together

Thank you so much for such a thorough and insightful answer. This really helps me understand the nuances of the superb bass tones achieved here. And if I'm not being greedy, might ask what the sources of the string sections and brass sections are? Are they live recorded or maybe from a sample library? Thanks very much again and outstanding work! I'll be purchasing this and a few other F9 packs! Cheers @@F9Audio

Hi Steven - The stems are all WAV format, they require dragging into any DAW ( tempo set correctly ) ,. the greta thing is S1 is really good at this and time stretching ... To acccess the one-shot menus, the best bet is Halion Sonic which is totally free from Steinberg - Here's the full manual to Starlight as it'll show all the details www.dropbox.com/t/ZjbnYaSRt88If81V
