Her Aunt Vanessa aka Leo's mother shot her because she felt that Frankie would be a threat to her secure life as Mrs. Palmer Cortlandt.

@boilerboy I don't blame you there. Vanessa Bennett Cortlandt had absolutely NO class at all for killing Frankie. And to do that for her own status was not only beyond contempt, but it was beyond despicable. Fortunately, Vanessa met her maker for what she did, although the fact being that her body was not found as was Leo's. So, no worries, I would be as angry as you are.

Well according to Vanessa, she didn't mean for Frankie to be killed. Her motto was that she doesn't kill blood relatives. She was talking to 1 of her goons about Frankie & he took it upon himself to kill her, it wasn't a direct order from Vanessa. That's why Vanessa claimed she killed him once she found out what he did. She confessed to this when her & maggie argued. But Vanessa is a psycho, she was gonna completly snap eventually & probably do the job herself no matter who Frankie was to her.
