In this video we will take a look a the brand new dual action polisher from Ryobi. Ryobi claims you can polish and entire car on a single charge so we will see if that is true. This polisher is light weight and comes in around 3lbs without a battery attached. This kit includes the polisher, 3 pads, D handle and the owners manual. No battery or charger is included and the kit cost $200.

Great tool review! Take notes Ryobi! All very minor fixes but they could definitely bring in A LOT of people into their lineup of tools by perfecting this one tool. • reverse the battery’s orientation from down to up • Add tactical feel for each speeds and label max speed • Improve the switch to be more user friendly • Lose the one battery claim… • Instead, highlight its low vibration. • Specify the throw in mm and correct claim if inaccurate. • Offer a kit with batteries and charger included for more savings to those new to the Ryobi family of tools. • The price is quite high for this tool for what it is compared to others on the market. This still seems to be a great tool overall as all of those things are very minor and more so address the first experience for a “new” Ryobi user. (again, just looking at it from someone who doesn’t own Ryobi tools since going with anything battery operated usually tends to lead to other bare tool purchases from the same manufacturer. That being said, I still know what I’ll be checking on come Black Friday :) Thanks again for the excellent review!!!

Thank you and I agree they could improve a few minor things and this thing would be a beast. The throw is definitely not right IMO. I own a 3mm,7mm,8mm,9mm,12mm,15mm and 21mm throw polishers and this one seems like it’s about an 8 or 9. All in all though it is a good machine and will get the job done. Thanks for watching

Usually when Ryobi rates the runtime of their tools, it's usually with a 4ah or 6ah battery. So the smaller battery will always run out faster. Great review, and thank you.

Yeah even with the 4Ah battery I used it still didn’t make it across the hood. The website states 2 hours of use with a 9Ah battery but the Manila says nothing about that. I think they should fix that. Thank you and you are welcome

The 7500 rpm click is part of the wheel design. At lower speeds the regulator is active but when it clicks to 7500 it’s like a on/off switch. Basically if the regulator breaks or stops working you can still use it at 7500 rpm

That's a really nice polisher! I love Ryobi tools , I don't know if you knew already but if you use a bigger battery you will get more power out of the tool , believe me , I was skeptical about the bigger battery too , but my brother who also has ryobi tools told me to use a bigger battery, I was like "that doesn't make any sense, because the volts are the same is just the running time that is affected by the size of the battery, " my brother was like "don't say anything just try it please " ... boyyyy, I was wrong, the performance of my ryobi tools was better and more powerful with the bigger battery than when using the smaller one , I didn't have any big batteries at the time so I went to home depot and got me two 6.0 Ryobi batteries for 99 dollars before tax I think home depot right now has the spring black Friday sale during the month of March and April, you can get two 6.0 batteries for 99 dollars, the have pretty good sales right now, like better prices on some of the more expensive Ryobi tools , also if you buy a single battery , Ryobi gives you a tool of your choice for free , you should go to Home Depot to check it out

Full car with 1 battery is more of a 6ah and polishing (not really paint correction). I ordered new pads, I need better color coding as I’m partly colorblind. Doing a full vehicle with paint correction, may want a corded one. Doing spot correction or if you’re like me and have a 6 battery charger then it’s not bad for the occasional work.

Hi, Nice Review. I probably will get this one for being a DIYer. I think if I worked on Ryobi design team I would next release a Brushless HP version that should have more power and be smoother. I would put in a variable trigger and lock button that your thumb can do like the established polishers would have and maybe turn the battery sideways (not sure on that as it does stand nicely vertically on the concrete floor or workbench setting it down). I think lower bottom end speed would be good too in the 1000 or 1500 OPM range would be good on wax/sealant apps. Almost need the bigger batteries of 4or 5Ah as bigger batteries have lower internal resistance and can give the motor what it wants to do with more oopmfff.

Have done 10 cars with this tool so far/ 8 different makes. Mercedes , Toyota, BMW, Shkoda , Ford , Nissan, Honda , Volvo Love the way it seats in my hands, with 5ah batteries i hardly feel any vibration. Machine Leaves slight hologramms with schol navy spider pad and s20 black, even on German clear coats , donno why but it does. I manage to completely mask hologramms with TW Ceramic spray though. Is that also the case for you , or should I replace it as faulty please ? Leaves them on japanese with schol s20 and medium Polishing pads. Otherwise it does the job removing light to medium swirls and scratches. It does make eavily damaged clear coat look twice better but can't remove above moderate level clear coat damage. Can not even with scol s3 gold and scoll white spider pad, even after 6 passes it can't. I do claybar 2-4 rounds as well. Strangely enough Scholl s3 Heaviest cut paste with heaviest cut pad doesn't cut more than Scholl s20 and blue pad , but s3 gold and white pad does cut more on applied to cordless drill aka my temporary Rotary :) Scholl s 20 with blue pad on cordless drill does cut less than s3 gold and white pas , but on this ryobi polisher these both of these combos deliver same cut. P.S. when ryobi cordless rotary coming out ?

On the Australian Ryobi site they state a 5ah batttery will give 45mins of run time. Not sure why, but that a big difference and you still won’t get a whole car in 45 mins. I like Ryobi for my not so critical tools but I use Milwaukee for harsher applications. I purchased the Ryobi cordless angle grinder and returned it the next day. The rpm's are not enough to grind welds for long, it would shut off. Switched to the Milwaukee and even though it does not compare to a corded, it serves its purpose of reducing the amount of cords running all over the place. I think I will buy the Milwaukee cordless polisher for the extra cost, knowing that it will do a better job.

I could immediately hear a difference in RPM when you changed batteries. Also, Ryobi says one car with with the 9.0 battery. Personally, I would not car if it took 4 batteries and I was rotating through them while another charged. I would do this until the vehicle was done which can vary greatly. The reason I don't care how many batteries? Because there's NO CORD!!!! OMG! I already have the Ryobi 18v vac and now this is out? Hot damn! No unwinding cords. No tripping over cords. No cars rolling over cords (I was mobile). No cords to pick up when you're dog as tired and done! Put this with 18v cordless washer.....and six 4ah batteries....you're doing a lot of details FAST....and where ever you want to!

Great video, I bought this today after waiting for months! At home when inspecting it, I took it out of the box and spun the pad on the machine with my hand, then I notice while viewing it from the side when spinning it that its moving unevenly closer and further from the machines body. So, I think I need to return it for a new one or decide to go for another model with cable. Shame, my Ryobi BIT holders are also acting this way making the screwdriver unsteady.

Regarding the batteries, when they say that one battery will do XYZ, you should check which specific battery they say it will do that with. No 2AH battery will last long, irregardless of the battery manufacturer. Also, and tool that typically requires 2 hands to use, should use a minimum of a 5-6AH battery. I’ve seen the Ryobi 9AH battery on sale before for $99.

A few other thoughts. For 1 , I kind of wish it was heavier. Maybe I wouldn't have to push down as hard and turn the speed up as much to work product. Secondly if you are left handed the speed dial may be a pain . Would have been ni e to have it on both sides . 3rd , I will be putting a vented backing plate on it . The to get rid of the heat better. Not sure what kind of grease is used and how much the heat will effect it. I still use my 10 year old flex rotary more . Grew up on a rotary and 35 years later that's still my go to . I put this ryobi through its paces though . Figured that at the price point and being almost 1/2 the price of other cordless give it a shot . Just may thoughts . Hope it helps if some are still on the fence.

As a DIYer a corded machine represents much better value. Battery life is greatly reduced when not used and stored incorrectly and battery tools are really expensive. Also when your battery expires a replacement battery is nearly the same price as a new tool at which point there will be a much better new model on the market. On top of that you never run out of power when plugged in, lets face it how many times will you use a tool like this away from home!
