It's very cheap compared to like the real buffers like rupe's and flax because it doesn't have the potential that these polishers have it's made for beginners and people who don't want to burn their pain I don't think it's in the professional category

With my Ryobi I like orange or blue pads for polishing. Black pads for finish. Not a work horse but a good machine for light polishing and finishing. Battery endurance is good with 4Ah, 6 would be awesome but 1 pound heavier .

Anybody have any idea how does this compare to the SPTA cordless polisher? Been wanting one but not sure which one to pull the trigger on. If price was very similar and both had the same pkg with two batteries and charger, which would be the best option? Not a pro, more of an enthusiast/hobbyist and want to take care of my cars. Looking to do just a paint enhancement and *maybe* a light paint correction. All feedback/opinions welcome, thanks!

I just bought one for $169 at home depot. It is still pretty expensive for what it is. I will be using my milwaukee batteries with it. I won"t use my M18 rotary polisher for any paint correction but i thought this would be a good finishing touch for some applications. Being able to use my M18 batteries was the main reason i decided to try this. I researched other cordless polishers but i didn't want to invest in a different battery system since i have a couple Ryobi tools and two battery adapters. Too bad they didn't use a brushless motor because it would have had more power.

Paint Correction.... does that mean the compound lightly abrades the surface so the minor marks and scratches are filled-in with the residue? Anything battery powered is never going to perform as well as something plugged into the mains supply. Realistically, it only performs at its optimal best for a couple of minutes.... if that. The batteries begin to drain the second it is turned on.

I've been using mine 3 or 4 times a week for 5 months. No , it's not suitable for correction. I only use it for wax / one step . Rather go with my electric for correction. Also being mobile it's a big help . Manly I use it on motorcycles where typically no correction is needed . Having over 20 batteries and a couple superchargers dont hurt either .

@@joshymcdaniel9233 well for 1 steps or or polishing its different than a typical orbital being that you can change pads . It probably has enough to correct but I perfer an electric. Doesn't stall . This was a bit of an odd one... The EU version of this, R18P, costs a "mere" ~120-130eur as a bare tool. Our version doesn't have that big detachable handle, but otherwise identical.. This must be the first time a tool is significantly cheaper here than in the states. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but your 199USD price doesn't even include the tax? Which ours of course do...

If you're a pro, move on, ditto for those that need batteries and chargers. This is a great ergonomic DA, but does it go through batteries! Like another demo said, it's smooth and hardly any vibration, but that's with the smaller battery. Great DA for those that have Ryobi batteries (I have a few), and only use once or twice a year. For those that use a DA frequently, get a Flex.

Without any idea how much pressure you're putting on the polisher, it's hard to say if it's easily stalled or not--as it's ergonomically designed, it's probably not meant tobe pressed on heavily: If you're trying to stall it, that info isn't helpful.

It's Ryobi. By very definition its a DIY'er tool. Not sure why anyone would question or critique it based on prosumer or small business use. PS - It's $129 on sale for the tool-only kit with a set of additional finishing pads. Which I think is a fair price if you're already in the Ryobi ecosystem for your screw guns, impact driver, hedge trimmer, etc.

If you're doing much work at once or working on awkward positions slide lock is always way better bar none. If you're doing a very small piece of work and keeping standard non awkward positions then only then is a trigger better. I'd never want to even think about holding a trigger for an entire big job. Not sure why you'd want a trigger unless it's only being used for the little test video. Now a trigger that also locks? Yeah that would be the best of both worlds.
