I just came across your video, I hope you don't mind me saying but these gelatos are meant mostly to do backgrounds and it works better if you put some colors on a palette (Caran D'ache has one) but you can use a smaller cutting board those acrylic ones with a rough surface, then you pick up some color with a brush and color on the paper. They do suppose to move with water, if you use the palette you won't see the lines. And yes you have to put down more color, not just an outline. But you can use them dry, I actually prefer that and then you can blend them with those foam pieces, or some other blending tools or even with your finger, just gently blend out the color, not rub it hard. I think the nicest ones are the iridescents ( there are 2 iridescent sets) and the metallics. I didn't figure out yet the best paper for them. It has to be smooth but not too shiny, very little texture and if you use watercolor paper the hot press it's better the texture is finer than the cold press . Again although they are water soluble, but they don't work very good as watercolors (not like the Neocolor II) but dry especially for backgrounds they are beautiful. Also, because these are pretty expensive, a cheaper alternative are the Kingart gel sticks and they are very nice too. You can check them out on Amazon. These gelatos, I have them all, but I like the best the Iridescents, both sets, the metallics and the pastels. There are also the Translucents and the Brights which you have. The Iridescents and Metallics work on black paper too, very nice effect. I actually now regret buying all the gelatos because I like the Kingart gel sticks they also have 72 colors, they are even more creamy and the colors are very nice, and much cheaper. But I can use them both and like I said I only use them for backgrounds. I hope this helps. 😊Oh I forgot the Gelatos are more pigmented than the Kingart, but you can't really see it unless they are next to each other, and still they look very nice.
