Fabian, Genuine nice guy. Great performer, that learned show business quickly. Proud to be credited as co-writer on three of his recordings, 'Stop Thief!' 'I'm Sincere' and one of a few of his ballads 'Hold Me (in your arms)'. Still performing with the 'Golden Boys'. Keep on Rockin', Fabe!

I think there was resentment against Fabian because he was exploited almost completely because of his beauty at first. He was one of the first males to be promoted in that way. It was a double standard because dozens of talentless girls had been foisted on the public for decades solely because they were pretty and sexy. Fabian stuck with it and became a good actor and he's still performing, so I guess he had the last laugh.

My mother's friend was Fabian's first manager back in the late 50's, and i was told many times how he had held and kissed me as a 2 year old, when he made an appearance at a wedding that she, my father and the two of them attended back then. Her girlfriend's niece also dated a young Frankie Avalon before he met his future wife. South Philly was a very close-knit community back in those days and everyone knew and interacted with everyone else from "the neighborhood". They were always so proud of the success of their "native sons", Frankie, Fabian, Bobby Rydell, and my-forever-crush, James (Jimmy) Darren.

What purpose is possibly served by referring to Fabian Forte in such absurd and derogatory terms as "manufactued idol"? He is a competent actor (Hound Dog Man, North To Alaska, Ride The Wild Surf, etc.). And his Chancellor label releases are rife with attitude and were well received then and now. Dean Martin never worked with artists who couldn't cut it, and Martin is dueting with Fabian in this clip. Pejoratives like that idol insult are pitiful leftovers from the hippie era. It serves no useful purpose. And this "documentary" is over four decades old at this point. Let it go.

There is no doubt at all, and even Fabian would admit it, yes, he may have been, actually, I believe he was the first anti bona fide singer of all time. And how did he do it .... pretty obvious, he was so damn good looking. Now, I ask any of you naysayers out there, if some music agent came up to you and asked if you'd like to be a singing star ... even if you didn't know or even realized your voice was not singing material, would you say 'NO?' HELL NO! And that's what Fabian did, he did what all of us non-talented singers would do, he said, hell yes! So I've always hated it when people would knock his singing, he knows, we know, basically everyone who knows about singing knows he's not that great of a singer, not his fault he was born good looking. Anyway, I personally like a lot of his songs and his songs fits his singing ability perfectly as far as I'm concerned. I cannot envision anyone doing a better version of "Tiger" than Fabian's version. It sounds real, it sounds like how a man should be if he's going after a woman, now don't you PC nuts go crazy now, 'cause it ain't going to work with me! End!
