Fabi's style is fantastic. It's attacking for sure, but very simple! He just outplays his opponents with better moves. He doesn't rely on complications and tricks to win. I'm loving his play. Some say he relies too much on opening preparation. But if that's what does it for him, who am I to argue?
@snippletrap

I don't think the moves in this video were part of his opening prep. He is a monster calculator.
@Musicrafter12
@Musicrafter12 4 жыл бұрын
@@snippletrap I think it's at least known that the game with Hikaru and the queen sacrifice was simply Hikaru walking into prep. Hikaru had analyzed the position and thought that the best lines for white were to win back the black queen a few moves later, not just sit on the material deficit with a suffocating position. Since Fabi had prepped more deeply, Hikaru simply walked right into his sacrifice and paid the price for it.

4:56 after Qh5 he only shows what happens after g5, but after a bit of calculation I believe Ive got the rest of the lines. If Kf6 then Qf7 Kg5 h4 Kg4 and Be6 is mate, if Ke4 then Qf3 (I believe even Qg6 works since you get Qd3 after both of them, but Im not sure) Kd4 Qd3 Kc5 b4 Kxb4 (if Kc5 then Qd5) Rb1, now if Ka5 (instead of Ka4 Qb3 Ka5 Qb5) then Rb5 Ka6 (Ka4 there's Qb3 mate) and Rc5 b5 Qb5 mate. Initially for some reason after Rb5 Ka6 I was attracted to Qb3, since it's a quiet move and I saw no way out of mate, but then I realized he actually has Bg2 followed by Kb7 and Kb8. It's absolutely amazing that Fabi calculated all of this in his head from the starting position

on the 2nd one why did Hikaru play rook b8 and not bishop capture f5, preventing the rook from coming up since the knight guarding that square would be gone. Rook b8 just seemed super passive. I love Hikaru too he usually always comes up with more proactive moves, im probably missing something though
@savitarcodm9635
@savitarcodm9635 2 жыл бұрын
Hikaru didn’t take the Knight because In studies it is proved that in open and middle games Bishop is more worth that knight and Taking the knight Would not have been great as at would activate another light square bishop In the middle game and The dark square bishop was also very powerful as it can attack Queen and queen cannot take as it is protected by another knight to prevent this he played the move rook to b8
@savitarcodm9635
@savitarcodm9635 2 жыл бұрын
If u see b8 square It is fully open and Fabiano Can Enter his another piece in that square which will result in Queen To move from its position And Black Being Very much more active that’s why took was essential in that position and even if white played bishop to b6 that would result in giving away to active pieces like bishop and a knight for a rook And in the middle game bishop and knight are worth more than a rook

Is there anything that black can do to salvage the position in the first example? If black doesn't take, then white's rook comes to Rc7+. Only way black can prevent immediate checkmate from then is to give up the queen for a rook I suppose.. am I missing something?
