Are you moving houses? Does that mean we won't hear a faint sound of airplanes landing in the background of your videos? It has become a sort of a trademark of your videos now - it'll make me nostalgic about the good old days going forward 😂

Alireza found an interesting answer to white's Rg1. Though Caruana could have had a big advantage after e5, which he astonishingly missed. Too bad for the young Iranian that Caruana was at his best in the rest of the game. During the game the young man was visible distracted, probably by the provokative behavior of his father on the site. That makes his life not easy. Thanks Mr. KIng for another of your excellent and especially pleasant analysis from the chess board.

How did the G5 pawn take the F5 pawn at @10:10? Is that the en passant capture?
@loulasher9 ай бұрын
It's called capturing En pasant. When a pawn moves 2 squares from its starting position (so, we're only talking about pawns that have not moved until the move in question) sneaking passed a enemy pawn to stand next to it on the same rank, it can be captured by a pawn on the square it skipped by.
@lenz62939 ай бұрын
Yes. That's en passant

Your morning tea in a paper cup looks a little sad. Svitlana has done a good job with the womens candidates. yesterday she took a drink whilst we were challenged to think. This is an incredibly tight tournament. exciting. Thanks Daniel.

I think what you failed to mention on here was the amount of time trouble Alireza was in. He played a5 because he had about 5 seconds to play 2 moves. Anyway still the best chess analysis channel!

Here we go again. The Najdorf variation in the Sicilian starts with a6, and I know DK is a fan of that opening. So: where's the "special place in Hell" for that "little pawn move"?
@roqsteady52909 ай бұрын
I think it is a bit like Feingold’s “never play f3”, in that these moves are often played unnecessarily and later turn out to create weaknesses or hooks for attacks.
@leoblum06319 ай бұрын
@@roqsteady5290 Actually, I think Feingold specifically says: "Never play f6!"! Besides: Without the early a6, there is no Najdorf!
