most of intonation difficulties are because of the tiny room, but if she is a student, wow! Fab! Having been a freelancer all my life, I have always escaped playing this!

Es un solo difícil. Debe usar doble stacatto y respiración circular. Lo disfruta. Tiene un futuro en el Oboe. Soy Oboista y lo hace muy bien...Bravo por ella. Tambíen la aplaudo.

It’s quite peculiar to me how a video of someone playing classical music on the internet invites unsolicited “Masterclass” from the comments section. Must we always address what is of error? As if it holds more value than that of which has been done well. Perhaps I should take the appropriate approach to learning effectively, counting mistakes like tic marks and basing my perspective of the entire performance based on said tiny criticisms. Surely, this approach will lead to a grander appreciation of a performance, and smiling faces too.

What was this about? Why were they all clapping after? I understand it's a difficult solo but you usually don't clap. Was she a student of Thouand and temporarily sitting principal?

I suppose so. It seems to be a very friendly atmosphere...

She missed the last 3 beats of the solo, like most do, tonguing all the way down to low C. They clap because she faked it professionally as the flute finished it for her. I guess ... :)

Well the flute didn’t “finish it for her”. The flute part is written that way an octave above the oboe at the end of the solo. The oboist just ran out of gas.😊

Jerry The flute was written there intentionally just in case the gifted Oboist was not gifted momentarily… Which is smart orchestration. I’ve always have difficulties because of my sinuses and the best responsive reed always helps and to keep the airstream going and those last five notes must be light and sure. Fun scary stuff :-) Rossini sure has always tasked us all!

The oboe is terribly out of tune, especially at the beginning.
