@@springbloom5940 It's a flawed argument because it doesn't really matter. Doesn't have to be a competition. They're both awesome at their crafts, but not only are both of their crafts very different from each other, but they're also both artforms and therefore subjective to a large degree. For whatever reason, in both appearance and personality, as well as position in their respective industry, they remind me of each other. Both seem like very positive, likeable, dedicated experts yet remain humble, and just generally seem like someone who I would wanna be friends with haha.

@@TheSpartan_G Correction, it was a flawed assertion.
@TheSpartan_G
@TheSpartan_G 2 жыл бұрын
@@springbloom5940 True. Could be both I guess tho because were there actually to be an argument about it, the argument itself would be flawed because there's no definitive correct answer. EDIT: If you mean my original comment is a flawed assertion, yeah it's just a goofy opinion/comparison, it's not that deep lol. I thought you were correcting when I said "flawed argument" to "flawed assertion." "Person A is better than Person B" is entirely subjective when referring to whether or not someone is better at an artform, let alone 2 separate artforms, and is mostly what I was referring to. It's completely fine not to like one or the other, but to not like something doesn't mean it's bad, so it's impossible to say which one is "better" than the other in that case because it doesn't exist.

He really plays with a relatively clean sound. A lot of players do!! He didn't sellout, he evolved. He can still play what he's done, but he's moving on. @@MeTuLHeD I can “shred” and have since the 80s and I hate it. Yngwie, Friedman/Becker, Racer X, Vinnie, and the whole Shrapnel crew was cool and new when I was 17, but it became old and boring to me before 1990. And it had nothing to do with “grunge” because my Kramer sat gathering dust before all those bands hit, and I rediscovered my love for SONGS rather than showing off for other guys. Now YT has popularized “shred” again among young guitar players, and I still hate it.

I watched him playing before the pandemic in a small club near my place. Such a great set, always full of surprises with an endless demonstration of musical skills. He can pretty much version any song on any style, impersonating the vocals with his guitar while adding frenzy, crazy and very tasteful solos. One of a class, Paul Gilbert ... as I said once ... Where I make words effortlessly, I think Paul just makes notes and runs effortlessly. Amazing level of proficiency. I think he can play just about anything.
