I like the new video style! Let's also not forget that in Fable 2, Theresa informed the Hero of Bower Lake that her child would save Albion from a great threat. It could be that when Logan was born, the Hero King/Queen could see that Logan was not the child from their vision, so no effort was put into seeing if Logan was a hero or not. Theresa stacked the deck against Logan from the start.

Logan started off doing the right thing. Growing up with a throne cast on him by the death of his parents. Traveled to the desert kingdom where people kept dying from an unknown cause. Encountered a primordial evil from the court/void which no one knew about or knew how dangerous it was. Lived. then returned to his country where no one believed him. I think what he did was the only logical thing to do, there was no other kingdom with numbers to aid him. I've never killed Logan because i always thought he did what he had to do. Except the Reaver business, that wasn't a good move.
@Skyrionn3 жыл бұрын

One thing I'd like to add. I've seen people argue that Logan could have just bought every property and continued being a benevolent ruler as he'd have the money he'll need without harming his own people, unless he jacked the prices up. But I feel like people who argued this, and I've argued this myself admittedly before coming to a realization, they're missing the big picture. Sure, Logan could have remained a good ruler and still had the funds to have the army he needs, but as Theresa states late in Fable 3, a Hero has to sit the throne. Logan was no Hero. He was just a regular guy. I would imagine that Theresa told him that a Hero had to sit the throne, which would lead him to figure that if the Hero isn't him, then it must be his sibling. Even if it wasn't, he needed to start becoming a tyrant, not only to build funds for the army the Hero will need, but also to give the Hero a reason to overthrow Logan. And since the Hero is the sibling, who has been living in luxury in the castle, they would have some growing up to do before they're ready to truly challenge Logan. If Logan remained a good ruler, the Hero would never see a reason to overthrow him, and the sibling would never grow up enough to be ready to take his place. But, I can see an argument against that being "well why did Logan send a ship to destroy the ship the sibling was on to go to Aurora?", which is a valid point. The only counters I could come up for that would be A. Logan may not have necessarily ordered this. It may have been the soldiers' decision. B. Logan needed to keep up the status quo that he is trying to prevent this revolution. Plus if Logan knows his sibling is a Hero, then he would safely assume they would survive and make it there anyway. Thanks for coming to my TED talk. lol
@expressrobkill2 жыл бұрын
I think the interesting thing about the game is it gets you to make a descistion right away about who get killed then later the same descistion with the old king, and then puts you into the position of ruler, so you’re basically seeing his perspective. And the truth is being a good ruler can be almost impossible. People wont understand why you make more money live in a nice castle, its because every descistion you make could mean the deaths of thousands, down the line. I wish the choices were less cut and dry but that was defiantly the best part of the game, hope they put it in fable 4. And expand on it. Obviously i enjoy the rpg elements i just think fables rpg mechanics are a bit lacklustre, that should be the main focus for the next game, perfecting the combat and rpg systems. But a good king system would add alot to distinguish it from other rpg’s.

I believe Logan definitely had Heroic potential being a descendant of The Archons of the past. However he may not have been as impressionable as his younger sibling and thus too risky for Theresa to train as a hero. Same could be true with Rose as she was a bit more world weary than Sparrow. I believe Logan could have definitely defeated the Crawler if his heroic potential was realized but he would have become an even greater Tyrant wielding absolute power not unlike his ancestors. Taking the weight of the world upon yourself is an admirable quality but it can distance you from others. Unlike his sibling logan presumably never got to walk amongst the people of Albion experience life from the bottom.

My theory to 'is Logan a Hero' is this, he's a hero... but not the hero you are probably thinking of, not the player character. I think it stems from what i remember in regards to the Guild Master when he said, "Heroes are capable of great deeds, or great evils" Logan probably didn't have Hero Powers, but he probably had the Power of a Hero's 'Will', not the Will Powers but the Power of a Hero's Will itself. He was willing to do what was necessary, whatever he had to in order to save an entire country, a kingdom, a people. Heroes are supposed to be that, capable of doing what was needed to save lives. And Theresa was right, in order for Albion to live a 'Hero' needed to be on the throne, and Logan helped create that hero in his brother, through his Will, cruel as it was, because every villain needs a hero to stand against him, and every hero needs a villain to define a hero. He was not the 'hero' albion needed, but he was the 'hero' in regard that, if he could have found an alternative route that 'didnt' require such brutal methods he would have, but the darkness was approaching, he had so little time to prepare, so he 'needed' to take drastic actions, every day mattered. Iuno if you play Pokemon but if you played SW/SH, a character named Rose mentions how a problem will exist in 1000 years that he needs to solve 'now', but another character, Leon says "what difference will one more day make for a problem 1000 years into the future?" In this case, Logan didn't have a thousand years to wait, he had at most maybe over '1' year, as i do not know how long Logan was ruling the kingdom in its form prior to the game's beginning, if he had 1 year to prepare a massive army, raise a huge ammount of money to fund defensive fortifications, prepare the land and the people for this assault... even a single day in terms of setbacks would make all the difference between saving or losing the kingdom. So yea, in my eyes, he's a Hero, not the 'Hero' needed to save the kingdom, but he was a Hero in his own right, twisted as his actions were, perhaps insane and cruel, but but if we didn't overthrow him then assuming he was successful in his efforts, when the danger had passed, the threat was gone... he might have changed things, explained his actions, and perhaps even stepped down from the throne and accepted banishment to atone for his actions, because after all... he saved Albion, he saved his people, his kingdom, what happens after doesn't matter and they would recover better without him... if thats how events would have played out, he would have fullfilled his duty and let his brother take over.

@mlmii19332 жыл бұрын
I think its worse than that; I believe Theresa knew Logan was a hero, had the potential to defeat the Crawler, but in order to have the best chance to save as many people as possible she needed Logan to lay the groundwork of defense, become a tyrant for people to rally against (and gain some experience fighting), and then pass the throne to his younger sister to benefit from his labors. Same as with Rose, Theresa needed her to die so she could forge Sparrow into a weapon.

I think Logan very well could have had Heroic abilities, but becuase the bloodline was watered down by the time of Fable 3, Theresa sent him to Aoura to test those abilities and even though he survived his abilities weren't strong enough to convince Theresa that he could save Albion. I really wish that the relationship between Logan and the Hero was more developed so there was more emotional weight to deciding Logan's fate; we only get to see mad king version of him in the first act but maybe if there were some letters from Logan to his sibling in the Hero's room or somewhere around d the castle that could be narrated in Logan's voice to show some more of what their sibling relationship was like before the game. If there was a goodbye letter from before he left for Aurora that could have been a tear jerker as well as setup; see a close sibling friendship in the past and what it's turned into since Logan came back from his ordeal.

Yeah I don't doubt for a second he's a hero with dormant powers like his parent at the beginning of Fable II. He just couldn't have survived the Crawler otherwise. The question is why Theresa did not insist on awakening those powers. Surely two heroes defending Albion together would be better than one? And given we as the player have the option to continue or even exacerbate Logan's policies, and they WORK, successfully saving the kingdom if you as the player make those choices, then clearly Logan's plan was working. The Rebels barely had any traction until you the player started backing them. For whatever reason, Theresa didn't want Logan on throne, even if it meant increasing the Crawler's chances of destroying Albion. And everything we learn about Logan after defeating him suggests he only ruled as a tyrant to fend off this threat, meaning he likely would have enacted reforms to benefit his people as soon as he knew they were safe from the Crawler. He would have lowered taxes, banned slavery and perhaps even reintroduced education. If for nothing else other than to stave off future rebellion (although I think he also genuinely cared for his kingdom). This leads me to only one conclusion. Logan IS a hero, and whatever his abilities are, Theresa believes they are somehow a threat to her. It always felt ominous in Fable II when she said "The Spire is mine." I felt like I'd been used, as if she'd been playing a much bigger game and I was just a piece on the board. She's up to something. A hero with the gift of foresight controlling a reconstructed Old Kingdom device capable of granting godlike powers (even if only briefly before exploding if history is any indication). Logan wasn't betrayed by Theresa because he wasn't a hero or because he was a weaker hero. I think she betrayed him because he's either WAY more powerful than us the player, or his ability is foresight like Theresa, and he could discover whatever she's doing that she's trying to keep quiet. That or some specific counter to her foresight.
@TheNopeTrainАй бұрын
Man, Logan got shafted hard… He tried to explain the threat that was coming to the people around him but no one really understood or wrote it off. You know one of those people had to have been Walter since he was literally appoint by Logan to help advise him, though this is never mentioned or brought up. He probably wouldn’t have had to take the drastic actions he did if his court had, even if they didn’t understand, believed, followed, and helped him. I say this given how when we overthrow him and he explains the threat and is FINALLY taken seriously with only one year left on the clock to prepare for the Crawler’s invasion and, somehow, you succeed. Why? Because you had a court that supported you with you even being able to not be a tyrant and still be able to save everyone with your own gold. I feel like Logan was doomed from the start since the king knew one of his children would save Albion, he likely had Logan evaluated when he was born but the blood was either too thin at this point or Logan was just unlucky and failed to manifest the powers of a hero. Theresa would have been aware of this, and given how the king told Walter to prepare your character it’s clear they passed the evaluation and to protect them it was kept secret, even from Logan. Thus his tyranny was assured because Theresa saw it as the only way, but she never comes clean on this and lets Logan take the fall. The first time I played I was going to execute him until he dropped the bombshell that Theresa had warned him and I realized she had manipulated him from the start… TL;DR Logan deserved better
@Garinovitch3 жыл бұрын
It's inspiring to say through good nature and hardwork you can overcome anything. But the reality is, given the situation, you can't get all this done purely through goodwill. In real life a king wouldn't be able to run around the lands, to quest, hunt for treasure, play minigames, and so on to grind up all the money he needed. He was given a choice here, let a few suffer and let mankind continue on through the ages, or let life come to an end. Is he a saint? Of course not. He's a good man, but even good men have to do evil.

But not the one meant to save Albion in Fable 3 :( And when you said "who had to grow up fast when his parents died/he grew up extremely quickly after his parents's death and had to focus on leading the kingdom instead of learning to know himself" IT BROKE ME. He is literally my favourite character of the whole franchise

As much as I detested Logan's actions during the first half of the game, by the time Gloriana became Queen I couldn't bring myself to execute him. As Gloriana said, 'We need your help, Logan.' She had ultimately inherited their father's traits of forgiveness and wisdom.

I felt the same too! He really was troubled and was in such a tough position. Gloriana is a perfect name.

@@Skyrionn The memorial scene at the game's end shows us that he possesses a soft-spoken and reflective nature that's more attuned to who he was before the events of the game. (I have an interest in Queen Elizabeth Tudor, so when I decided to play Fable 3 as a Heroine I thought it would be fitting to make her a powerful and popular monarch to her people. And since the Fable 3 protagonist is never referred to by a personal name I thought Gloriana would make a perfect Hero Title.)

Sparrow wasn’t a forgiving hero in Fable 2. His whole story was revenge lol
@rileywilliams97993 жыл бұрын
@@jenothemississippianofmand5202 It's my own interpretation of the story. I like to think that Rose's death actually inspired the Hero to not only be stronger but to also not become like Lucien. Though he sought vengeance for his sister's murder he still acted with compassion and fairness toward the people of Albion, which culminated in his not only performing good deeds for those in need but also killing Lucien to save Albion and the people so they could live prosperously and happily.

And this is why I choose to spare him and let him live And he may be a tyrant but he is family and I think it is very very very very cool that the villain is the Big Brother of the hero in this sequel. Also Logan reminds me of a villain from this untold story of Robin Hood that I'm writing actually I plan to name him after the villain in the 1st one I'm writing and he looks like the villain from the remastered version I'm going to write after in the first story of Robin hood I'm writing righr now t's about how Robin Hood and Prince John were childhood friends before they grow up to become sworn enemies and in the 1st 1 I planned to name The villain after Logan and in the remastered version I plan to have the villain just like him and also related to Prince John.

I definitely think he could have been a hero just never had access to a guild seal nor understood it himself just would make since if he was but like you said hero’s all became weaker and required gauntlets including the player character but I don’t think he would necessarily be weaker than the player character either

In original Fable isn't everyome can become a hero through training at the guild to learn magic and so on? Scarlet Robe is special because of some ancient bloodline that give them an advantage in combat.

Logan is very much a tragic hero not a villain Logan finds out about the crawler only for nobody to believe him which is why he then does everything to raise money and build an army, even if it means taking drastic actions Everything Logan does is extreme but he genuinely believes it's all for the greater good and eventually concedes that his younger sibling is the only one who can stop the looming threat, even admitting that said sibling is the ruler he could never be and that Albion is better off with him/her ruling instead

I can't ever forgive Logan for his actions and I think it would be offensive to him if we did. He isn't under any impression his choices were just or good but he made the ones he thought would leave some people alive. The issue with Logan is that he was so scared that he didn't see the good in trying to work together and I do think Teresa played him but Logan would have likely done the same thing as her. They both do bad things to reach a good result. Or at least the result where Albion lives.

Well, wether a reboot or prequel, it's highly expected to take place between the equivalent events of Fable 1 and Fable 2, so it's very likely that the Will system will be more closely based on the first game as opposed to it's sequels. That said, we don't have much to go on regarding the new Fable game. I guess we'll find out, but we all have our expectations and hopes.

I believe Logan had the potential to be a hero. However he faced the crawler the first time without any hero abilities or powers therefore making him afraid and every decision he made was out of fear for the crawler coming to Albion. One of the hallmarks of a hero is bravery and I think that because the younger sibling faced the crawler his first time with the hero abilities made him braver than Logan therefore Teresa chose him

Logen was a hero in a sense because his dad was a hero aka fable 2 so his way of saving the kingdom by trying to get the 6.5 to save everyone but she wanted a stronger hero because he way was to evil in a sense because he wasnt trying to save the kingdom in a hero type of way like supporting everyone making good choices in a way befitting a hero so due to him trying to save the kingdom in a evil way she thought hey he isn't worth the hero title because of his evil choice if rasing taxes child labor lowering of wages by 100%. She thought that even if he was able to knock back the darkness due to starvation and overwork their wouldn't be a kingdom left afterwords so he got the brother/sister to take over because she thought of the sibling as a overall better choice for the safety of all
Well they were a plague on the land so I guess they had to go at some point

Bro really forgot if you choose the Love ending of Fable 2 Scythe takes Rose to train her, so yes Rose had Heroic abilities it was confirmed. Also I personally think that Logan did have some some sort of heroic abilities simply due to the fact that he survived the Crawler’s attack on him, only 3 people managed that feat in Fable 3 being: Logan, The Hero aka Elliot/Elise depending on gender, and Walter. Logan and The Her both survive but Walter doesn’t because he gets possessed something apparently only a hero can avoid seeing as how the crawler tries to posses the player but fails due to his/her heroic abilities. I don’t see why the crawler wouldn’t have tried possessing Logan to escape his confinement and if he did he definitely failed.

I love Logan so much 😘 I instantly fell in love with his character and design like thanks Lionhead for making a hot villain 🙄 "... burning it to the ground before the Crawler could take it" (love that) I believe his intentions make him a hero instead of a tyrant imo. He would rather destroy Albion with his own hands than to have it be destroyed by an evil force. The fact he sacrificed so much to try and save his country makes him a good leader. Maybe not to the public at that time but once it was revealed I'm sure they would understand. He might have make wrong decisions or force kids into labor to produce for Albion's necessities, but it was all in good intentions. Would you rather be treated unfairly, or killed by a Darkness? "I will see it destroyed before I surrender it." Idk why but his dedication and obsession with protecting his country and the people is just so badass

It may be that logan was a hero but not a true hero as the true hero's in all the three fable games possessed the will skill and strength attributes but not all hero's did and fable law also mentioned that miner hero's were not always detected as the guild seals decided who the true hero's would be it may have been lossley referred in fable three that Walter tested logan with the guild seal as he wanted a hero succsesser but the guild seal did not choose him so logan remained a sort of lesser hero which is a normal person with some hero traits so their abilites are limited.

For a long time I thought the hero of Oakvale's real name was Bard. Reason being, whenever the Guildmaster would call out to him he'd say, "Bard, you have an important guild token at the map room." or something to that effect. Since then I've realized that the Guildmaster was only saying, "Ah" instead of "Bard", but I decided to keep the name for my own preference just because it seemed to fit. NOTE: I know I butchered the line, but I haven't played Fable 1 in quite a while.

I always spared Logan killing him seemed pointless. I also became far worse in some areas breaking most of the promises i had made. I knew what was coming Walter knew what was coming everyone in the room knew what was coming. So the needs of the many out way the needs of the few yeah i may allow child labor but as soon as the darkness is beaten i can just reverse everything. better to suffer for a year or so then die violently and get turned into a skin puppet.
