the stock GM TBI distributor has a “bypass” lead to the internal 7-pin module. The distributor controls itself during cranking, but when the ECM detects 400 RPMs the it sends the bypass signal which allows it to then take control of timing. So, with a Sniper you need to ground the module “bypass” lead so that it’s /always/ in bypass. This will allow the Sniper to control timing at all times (even during cranking). Holley will tell you it won’t work with a GM TBI distributor, but this is how I got mine to work. You’re probably past this point by now, but just in case that was helpful…

@@rightwingmanscott As a photographer of nearly 70 years, I understand Michelle's focus (yeah, that's a good word!!🤣) on what other's would see as minor details. I used to have to do all the editing in the dark room but Photoshop has spoiled me. It allows the photographer or videographer to monitor & edit every minor detail and then save it and run it back at live speed and it looks like you meant to do that! She has learned to concentrate on those "minor" details and when she runs the finished video file, it looks "perfect!" I only put it in quotes because I nearly never get it all exactly like I'd prefer but I just run out of time!! ...right Michelle??? 🤣👍 Oh, I should have mentioned. Many, and I mean many years ago I found an obscure law of physics that illustrates how a photographer cannot take his or her project into the darkroom (now that's a computer) and come back out again in less than three hours!! I'd go into my darkroom and take care of whatever I was working on and time just sloooooowed down. When I left the room, at least three hours had passed!!! Weird! 😆

As much as you ALL have done to rebuild this complicated awesome machine, and to get to the point where it is so close, is so frustrating. But remember, if it was easy... anyone could do it. I have faith that when you step back, take a deep breath and look at it with fresh eyes, you will figure it out. There is more knowledge and experience in that garage than many other's that refuse to accept the challenge of a project like this. You, as a family, will make this legacy project all that you want it to be, because your doing it for all the right reasons...not just to make a video.

Hey Paul that temp sensor should be directly in the coolant stream and not "T". If you find the coolant temp not reaching the 160 learn temp that will be your problem especially in the cold winters that you have. I had to fix a similar issue on a customers truck. It wouldn't go into learn mode and would cause a overly rich condition, I would have "T" the dash temp gauge side. Just speaking from experience maybe it will work for you. If your running a standard electronic distributor without electronic dist advance, then the tach lead on the Holley will still be hooked up the negative side of coil. If its HEI then to the Tach plug on the cap.
