You have to love the the High expectations of the fab rats betting scale. They were all saying high numbers. 500 at the wheel made me chuckle. Did they learn nothing from the last time with the big block? Oddly enough Paul was the only one not in orbit. Even with that said this is my favorite channel on KZbin absolute lovable group of people.

To be fair, it’s an inertia dyno. It will read low on most things with big wheels. I’m pretty sure the actual number is higher.

Dialed in, 345 HP, starts easily, sounds great. Big smiles all around - Brian @ OSG, Merlin, Paul, Shawn, Landon, Hunter, Brad. Merlin's teaser on power (turbo, super charger) and fuel upgrades (gas 91%, alcohol, nitro). Pulley change, extra booster fuel pump, 80 A breaker for fan. Like Merlin said: "Gas power in diesel range".
@edwardscott326210 ай бұрын
It's probably way more HP at the flywheel than that. It's probably way more HP at the tires than that. That looked like an inertial Dyno and they don't really do well with these kinds of builds. The big wheels, tires, and heavy duty drive train are their own unaccounted for inertia that needs to be overcome. To get an accurate measurement he'd need to find another type of Dyno. Inertial Dynos work well with like cars but not so well with something like this.
@kb9oak74910 ай бұрын
@@edwardscott3262 It's probably more like 450 hp and 600 ft/lbs tq. I sense that Paul wants this motor and drivetrain to live a long happy life. Otherwise he could get much more power.

I nearly choked when Merlin said "550". I told my wife "not over 375, at best". When it comes to moving a "dead" load, low end torque (idle to 4000 rpm) is king! This is where the 427/454/500 BBC or a 472/500 Cadillac, properly built, will shine. It is all about "area under the curve".

Holy smokes that guy tuned it up pretty good, even sounds at idle like its super charged now. 345hp and 400FT/lbs is no joke, Merlins joke about that cummins power is almost true. So happy for the fab rats team, and the mastermind Paul. KZbin money well spent. I have a 08 3500 dually diesel, turbo went a few years ago, put the biggest turbo you could do without replacing head bolts and injectors which was 70 horse increase from stock, added a south bend clutch, and then my after a few days my slave cylinder line burst from the HD clutch. So had to get a new one of them with braided steel lines. Anywho, the truck puts out over 400hp, and 900tf'lbs. Engine brake pretty well slams ya forward, and with 4 inch straight pipes she just whistles from the tips. Yes emissions crap was deleted back in 2008 haha, with the cheater chip.
