Hey guys! I'm sorry about the quick panning shots and such. I didn't review the footage between days or realize it was an issue until editing. There isn't much I can do about it now but I'll be more careful if I film other videos like this in the future :)

I know this may sound drab but have you ever considered doing a historic mourning dress? I haven't seen one done for really any era and think it would be interesting because it used to be a more common garment for a woman to wear after a death of someone such as a husband, father etc. Scarlett O'Hara lamented over having to wear one fiddley dee.
@sleepysartorialist6 жыл бұрын
Saturday's Child Scarlett probably welcomed the social relief it gave her. Mourning let them withdraw from society, an extremely rare respite.
@saturdayschild3766 жыл бұрын
@@sleepysartorialist Have you read the novel Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell? Scarlett was absolutely livid she was expected to carry on the mourning routine when she could be wearing pretty clothes and going to dances. She was very young and wanted to enjoy life. Social relief was the last thing she wanted. I being a total fuddy duddy could easily see how it could be viewed as a respite but Scarlett never.
@charliehockett57746 жыл бұрын
Costume College will be doing a mourning themed event in 2019, so this year is probably the year we'll be seeing a lot of mourning dress projects from the costuming community. But it would be interesting to see Angela's take on mourning. She really likes her bright colours!

I’ve been watching your channel for a while now and I’m so pleasantly surprised because I’m from a very quaint, small town in Lancaster. I even bought fabrics for my prom dresses in high school at some of the stores you visited. I’m away at college in NYC studying costume design, and it was really great to see a piece of home! I hope you enjoyed your trip!!

I am Green with envy about store galore and prices you mentioned on your trip . In Canada everything if you find places for starters prices times 3 and up . Go fabric store and you want to buy lace ribbon for your dress if you like good quality only that end up being 100 bukkaroos unless you just trim your sleeve around wrist . I think I will drown my sorrows now for few cup of coffee .

When I was younger we had a store called "stitch away" that I had found out about glancing through a 90s phone book and it was still there at the time. I went once and I loved it. I don't remember if I bought anything. It's been closed for years but I wish it wasnt. The only fabric stores I go to are hobby lobby and quite literally Wal-Mart and the craft section at my cities goodwill. I'm lucky that I'm good at thrifting but I wish we had more independent fabric stores. Seems like any time someone talks about independent fabric stores it's always that they are closing, or might close or have already close years ago. Which makes me wonder how lucky people like Angela ever manage to find these gems. I must live in the wrong part of the country for that lol

If you're ever back at Mad Hatter Antique Mall there's a Bollman hat shop right on the main road in front of the antique shop. They mostly sell modern hats, but they do also have some reproduction hats. Bollman has been making hats since the 1860s and they released a reproduction hat for every decade they've been in business. They're gorgeous.

I if you are ever poking around and see a box of CUSHING UNION DYES (W. Cushing & Co) with many colors buy it. If you are interested in dyeing fabric they are one of the easiest to use. The colors are great and last a long time. Look up info on instruction-for-Cushing-dyes. These dyes are good on wool and cotton fabrics. Earth Guild has a great instruction pamphlet.
