You have me thinking maybe a combo of ponte knit for sleeves & sides, with a lamb leather for the rest. Might work for those who have larger arms & need the unrestricted movement. Lots of good ideas...thanks

Seems like when you get busy with one or two things more & more things happen. I love those fabrics especially the orange & pink one. We’ve been a bit busy here too with getting things done before we leave for vacation in less than two weeks. I plan on doing a lot of relaxing when I get there except on Saturday nights. Hubby & I volunteer to watch the grandkids so their parents can go have a time away from the darlings. At 3 and 5 they are beyond active. So much fun though.

Great ideas! Spring? Right now as I’m watching this and getting ready for church, it’s 11 F in Omaha! But a lighter weight Moto would be perfect for our spring here on the prairie, and I think I could do it watching your marvelous videos. Thanks so much Whitney! Great ideas, Whitney, the white linen especially would make a gorgeous spring/summer jacket with a blinged up zipper. I'm going to stash bust and make my first moto jacket out of linen, then boucle.

I love the sheath dress with a matching cropped Canton over it idea. My nephew is getting married in early September and this is something I'll think about, for sure. I'm not certain I have the skills for the Canton, but I'll work on them.

I would love a interfacing video. There are so many out there that I’m not sure which one to use. If you were to do your favourite ones and why, we may understand better. Hi Whitney...thanks so much for this extra video. I was excited to see on Cashmerette that you were doing a sewalong for the Canton Moto. This is way outside my comfort zone, new sewist here, but I found some gorgeous teal floral cotton twill fabric on Mood Fabrics just barely over half price on sale and bought it. Don't know where in my sewing order this will go, probably not immediately but wanted you to know the only reason I will attempt is your sewalong. xx

Great video. Well I have some ultrasuede, I think it would be too flimsy,. I hope you do something for fall. I guess it would make a better skirt. If you have any suggestions, let me know. That will be a new adventure for me in the fall b

Ultra suede makes great unstructured/drapey jackets as well as skirts!

Great conversation, Whitney! It’s still cold here, so I’m thinking a warmer fabric. I’ve not purchased much garment fabric online. Our local JoAnn’s doesn’t have a ton of garment fabric. As a quilter and bag maker, I don’t have a lot of experience with garment fabrics. I’d love to know your favorite online sources for fabrics and zippers. What was the place you recommended for zippers? I wanted black metal zipper w black teeth. I found one in 22" but not the smaller ones

I have found some off of Amazon. Wawak has a good selection of basic zippers (not the fun ones). I think the Zipper Stop? is one that carries some of the fancier ones!

Great suggestions! But I want to say that acetate is NOT a natural fiber and you sweat a lot as with polyester. Bemberg rayon is a better lining choice. :)

Do you think bottomweight Ponte would work for a Canton? If so, what type of zipper would you use with it? I think Palmer/Pletsch and Fashion Sewing Supply both have very similar quality interfacing. I've used both and am very happy with the results.

I think it could definitely work! I would use the nylon coil zippers as they are lighter.
