Everything is full of chemicals because everything is chemicals. Which chemicals are you referring to?

exactly the only upside to this hack is that you'll avoid damaging your washing machine by preventing the fabric softener to build up

Harsh chemicals. Aren’t you bright enough to get to that conclusion? Or you mean to tell me that you take everything for it’s literal meaning? I’m sure you don’t lol.

The real reason to not use fabric softener is because it's actually bad for washers.

Fabric softener can also gum up in your washer leading to breakage or lack of effective cleaning.

Yeah, instead of that make a strong tea from 1 cup fresh lemon balm (you can grow it!) or 1/3 to 1/2 cup dried to a quart of water steeped with boiling water for a few hours and use a few ounces of that replacing some of the water in this recipe. I do that for my diy liquid laundry detergent to scent it as well I can’t imagine it wouldn’t work in this recipe and save a lot of $$ on essential oils. I don’t use them personally. Too expensive. Id rather grow fresh herbs!

So is that stuff you color your hair with and the stuff you paint your face with. Just as it does in a dishwasher, vinegar can harm rubber parts inside a washing machine, which will eventually lead to leaks. Though laundering your clothes with vinegar is a cost-effective, natural way to soften and deodorize fabrics, avoid using it in your washer too frequently.

"it's full of chemicals!" I'm so sick of hearing this shit. Your precious vinegar? Chemical. "Oh no I meant it's not natural" is what usually comes next. Cyanide. Anthrax. Botulism. All are natural. Stop trying to criminalize things in a lame attempt of greenwashing. Things are more nuanced than "chemical bad, natural good."

Fabric softener is bad for your clothes and your machine, but not because of "chemicals". As people have stated, everything is chemicals. Also, vinegar is better, but not because it's natural. It just happens to both be better and natural. Let's stop thinking that synthetic chemicals are somehow inherently less safe than natural ones. Also, claiming that essential oils are non-toxic when they can in fact be highly toxic to pets is irresponsible.

Fabric softener decreases absorbancy, and is not recommended for use on towels. Vinegar strips the dirt, grime and detergent residue, leaving them plush and more absorbent than before. In this instance and many others, vinegar concoction wins. Don't knock it before you try it. By chemicals I think she meant toxins and unnecessary ingredients.

@josephkanowitz6875
@josephkanowitz6875 Жыл бұрын
ב''ה, you want as odorless/flavorless a white vinegar as you can get, but the scent does really dissipate after fully drying and airing out. Glacial acetic acid might be good; "Farm Fresh" on the east coast also worked well and wasn't too strong. This is good for deodorizing fabrics, and reducing crunchiness from hard water, but the vinegar/acetic acid does destroy elastic in waistbands and socks.
