I used to design sprayer booms for an ag company in the Midwest. Very interesting to see a farmer like yourself work through issues and do some fabrication. You are one of the very few channels I have kept notifications on for. Thanks for all your great content, Justin.

I come from a family of farmers and ranchers and what you did in this video is what they refer to as the school of "Make do U" because buying new stuff is usually too costly and generally not as well made. Awesome job! Always nice to be reminded of where I came from!

On the nozzle guards, might think about welding on a bit of flat plate with a bend at the front so that if it hits the ground it is likely to ski across it rather than dig into the ground. Otherwise, cool project. Well done.

So nice to have a short visit again on the farm. Good recovery when things didn't go as planned. There is a lot we can learn when we watch others make mistakes and then they tell us what went wrong and how they intend to fix it. An excellent life lesson there. Thank you very much!From Minnesota

I always saw these things bouncing along in the fields near where I would hang out in the summers when I was little. They always looked so precarious. No wonder those extensions broke, but that's a fine fix that I'm sure will last!

While I have no interest in the n being a farmer, I find your video’s fascinating. The ideas you come up with, the processes you use to create and the final products are all just very cool. I am also impressed by the diversity of your videos. Whether it’s building a barn, a creative and beautiful lighting fixture for the barn or a new tailgate for your big truck, I enjoy your videos!!

Hi Another great video! Thanks! Seeing you work that UHMW for your sprayer reminds me: The original manufacturer of ‘change row-width on-the-fly’ sprayers and detasseling machines was Modern Flow. Those machines used UHMW lined square steel tubing with another piece of steel tubing telescoped inside. The UHMW was bolted from the inside using counter-sunk, FH, SHC screws. Any burrs or other imperfections on the exterior of the inner tube were removed/polished. The end of the inner tube was given a big, polished chamfer. The whole thing was then liberally greased. Let’s see here, smooth, greased steel, on slick UHMW. Hmm 🤔 That’s got a coefficient of friction approaching a banana peel 🍌on a wet, tile floor. If you want to discuss further you can pm me or here as appropriate. Be well & Best regards, Gottfried

I’m no farmer and what’s done is done but... Every inch you over extend those arms will add significant tension on the structure as a whole. “I would have” (I say from my cozy screen watching) considered making them shorter with the guard mounted before the last sprayer (with the sprayer overhanging). Fruit for thought
@chrislewis2262
@chrislewis2262 Жыл бұрын
I'd like to suggest next time when you have to rebuild those arms instead of cutting your square tube to size first leave it as one piece and take a hole saw and drill your holes on the edge of the box tubing first then cut it to size, that way you've already got the curvature to match the steel tubing. It would save you time on having to use the plasma cutter to cut all the notches in it.
