I'll be honest, I don't necessarily see the direct romantic interpretation, but I absolutely 100% feel the extra dimension of their relationship beyond his interactions with most of the rest of the bad kids. I think, in general, Fabian also has some great moments with Gorgug, but his interactions with Riz have always been special because they kinda go against each other? Iirc, Fabian was basically the first to really latch on to *The Ball* as a nickname, and they began with a very clear jock vs. nerd dynamic (stronger than that with Adaine since they could bond over being old money) that made their development away from those pre-definitions (which I would say is the foundational arc for the Fantasy High PCs, aside from parents) necessarily push them together.

I can go either way with them being platonic/queer-platonic or romantic but I totally agree with the extra dimension to their relationship. I love reading fanfics of them that just show how much they mean to each other, no matter how that manifests it’s always clear that they’re the most important people in each other’s lives and I always find that beautiful. Their bond just means so much to me.

4:31 I love the idea of Riz hiding anything about Fabian because of having a crush because it makes me think back to the part where everyone was roasting Riz for having images of missing teen girls on his wall in episode 1. I know that was an out of character but there could have been some offscreen moment where he showed the others the clue board he had and they teased him for it; if he likes Fabian he’ll assume the others would maybe tease him for having stuff of him on his walls even though they probably wouldn’t find it any more strange then if it was any other bad kid, so he hides it away to avoid being called a creep. Also I like to personally imagine in that moment in episode 1 where Murph has to try to defend Riz and say that he has the photons because he’s a detective and not a creep, I think he decided right then and there in his head “ok, I’m making Riz asexual now.” You can’t convince me that Murph didn’t on the spot decide Riz’s sexuality entirely to beat the creepy teen boy allegations, and I find it hilarious.

for the first thing I absolutely 100% agree, but for the second thing, I unfortunately don't think that's the case, cause he is attracted to the sexy rat in season one, so murph probably decided after that. but the thought that canonically riz has only ever been attracted to a rat is hilarious

@@mushroompoet I have specifically thought about the idea that Riz has only ever been attracted to the sexy rat. Like, sometimes aro/ace people encounter an exception, I’m a total simp for Brennan Lee Mulligan for example, so it can totally happen, but the fact that his exception is a thicc rat illusion is so bizarre and hilarious to me. It’s also funny how much Fabian hates the Rat while Riz is just dealing with his first and possibly only experience with attraction.

Incredible compilation! My personal favorite moment is really small so I understand that it wasn't here, but in My Green Heaven after Riz comes back and they propose to have a viral shrimp party, Fabian literally goes, "R- Th- Our Little Angel returned to us, we have a lot to celebrate!" Like while trying to say Riz's name he eventually settled on Little Angel

@@mushroompoet Another one I thought of was right before Fabian's Bad Day, when he's retelling the story to his father's warlocks. He just very sincerely brags about Riz being the one to kill Kalvaxus and goes on about how impressive he was while doing it. That whole retelling in general is very cool because Fabian is very nervously rambling but makes no effort to alter the story to make himself seem more impressive, and emphasizes how incredible his friends are. I don't really ship Fabian and Riz in a completely romantic way but the form their relationship is in right now is so fascinating to me, I can't wait to see how they develop in Junior Year and beyond.

At 17:28, I can't get over how when Fabian says it's fine if they don't rescue Aelwyn, Riz (Murph) jerks his head up in surprise, but he's the only one that doesn't push back against Fabian, and then he says "go back to this thing that I know makes you happy" and Fabian just goes with it.

you know after watching this video, I could honestly see them being REALLY good friends (where they like spend every free moment with each other, under the guise of being "super close friends" ("omg they were roommates")) and not admitting their feelings for each other for years. Until one night at a college party, they're the last ones left because they're still trying to see who can out-drink the other, before one of them, probably Riz, drunkenly lets slip he likes Fabian or one of them leaning close as they're wobbling around trying not to fall over, and their eyes meet and they go in for the kiss.

Late but. Look imma be real I don't like romantic fabriz bcause...I'm aro, I hate the idea of being in a romantic relationship, and I totally relate to Riz. Amatonormativity (the concept that everyone wants a single romantic partner) is devastating, and, like...I love consuming media, but I'm so tired of everyone always getting a romantic interest.
