So I would like to know if I can file a lawsuit against the state now or do I need to wait till they pass this ignorant law. You see, this law is going to put a lot of people in grave danger. How? Let me set a scenario. So a sex offender has a son or daughter that drives the car to school or work. Some moron notices the tag because the state has all but put their intentions on a billboard. This person decides to confront this child because they want to be a badass. Now the kid takes the brunt of a system that has nothing better to do. Or how about this one. The wife goes to the store in the car and someone decides to slash the tires or bust a window out, maybe key the car. Will insurance cover the damage or will these people be out of pocket. How does any of this protect society. It only puts a target on people. Maybe an innocent person.

One of the reasons Florida has so many sex offenders iss because they never remove them from the list. If a sex offender that was convicted in another state and travels to Florida for any amount of time, they are required to register in Florida. When they leave Florida their name stays on the list. If a registered person dies in Florida, his name stays on the list. This is probably done so that law enforcement can get more money because they have so many registrants to follow.

I am a 53 yr old Florida resident who foolishly and fearfully signed a plea deal 31 yrs ago before Any of these laws existed. I was one of the first people who had to register a home address. Since then I have seen the laws around sex offenders get more constrictive and sometimes downright ridiculous. Currently there are 32 laws a sex offender can be arrested for that a drug dealer or a murderer doesn't have to answer to in Florida. If it's green tags for sex offenders, then red tags for murders, orange tags for drug dealers, brown tags for multiple dui offenses, and while we're at it, how about black tags for theives? Where is the line? Sex offenders are being used to remove the freedoms away from ALL Americans, slowly but surely.

I got put on 28 yrs ago in Nj got of of registry 12 yrs ago moved to Florida 2016 in march 2023 got a knock on my door telling me I had to start registering & because of my lease I had to move into my car for the last month. There's a reason they say you go to Florida on vacation leave on probation!!

Thank God I don’t live in Florida or go there. I love my state they don’t have any restrictions or crazy laws like this. SO are free out here to live their lives. Travel as they want. Do as they want. I feel for the people who will be effected by this. Florida is the worst state to live in, so if you have the opportunity to leave I suggest u do. God bless you all and my heart goes out to all SO. Stay positive and keep your head up. Trust God he will create a way for you all.

Because of my restrictions, the government sent a letter ahead of me on my trip to see my fiancé in Indonesia asking them to deny me entry. Despite them telling me there was no laws prohibiting me from traveling. I ended up getting quarantined in the Philippines and finally saw my fiancé in Manila. When I return, they violated my rights against illegal search claiming that I didn’t have any rights as I was re-entering the county. But it doesn’t change the fact that I was an American Citizen standing on American soil being interrogated by an American agency. They went through ever scrap of paper, the went through my phone and read all my personal messages between myself and my fiancé. I was violated. A few months ago, I get an email saying that my passport has been invalidated and if I attempt to use it further it would constitute a felony. None of this was part of the plea agreement I was threatened and forced to sign. It’s a violation of our human rights! I would like to share with you a poem I wrote for my love, my one and only. they get you on the list and then are constantly changing the rules and without telling you, the judge sentenced me to 10 years on the registry (23yrs ago) then banged his gavel that was my final judgment, where did all this lifetime crap come from especially for statutory cases, the registry is just a quick cash grab and nothing more

I just addressed this in another post for this same topic. This is ASININE. Florida should have learned from it's Y and Z mistake in the late 80's and early 90's. All rental vehicles were effectively labeled with the starting letter as a Y or Z. As a result, tourists renting cars with their guard down on vacation were targeted for smash and grabs, even murdered. Germany issued travel advisories against Florida specifically. Florida pulled the plates. It was a fiasco. So now they want issue distinctive plates to label sex offenders then expect no one will be targeted? WTF?!

I honestly believe that as an example to all, and as a show of hood faith in the safety and effectiveness of keeping the world safe, that the State Legislators should be the first to display these green license plates on their vehicles. I know that they are not afraid to live by the laws that they enact. So we should be seeing 12 or maybe 50 or even 300 states representatives displaying these license plates for the term of at least one year. That would be honesty in real life.

@@joschawil In the mid 90's I lived in Minnesota and titled my Ford Taurus in Iowa to circumvent the insurance law in Minnesota. By having a Iowa plate on my car, I wasn't required to have car insurance while I drove it in Minnesota where I was living. You guys in Florida could always do that. If you know someone in a neighboring state, title you're stuff in your names there and drive it in Florida. All your really doing is putting a 11 foot ladder to a 10 foot wall so play that game.

If this law passes, then two additional things will need to happen to make this the least bit manageable. One offenders will have to pay higher auto insurance rates and two if the offender gets into a vehicle wreck it must always be their fault.
