It's been happening in many parts of the country. As more and more Courts see the light, our Cause is automatically strengthened and Florida looks more and more ridiculous.

I once called a post conviction relief attorney. As soon as the secretary understood it was pertaining to the registry. Not only did she refuse to connect me with the attorney, but started screaming at the top of her lungs about how the registry is for life and how no one should or will ever be removed from it here in Florida! I told her she was being unprofessional, I don't believe she heard me over the sound of her own ignorant shouting. Shortly after I found another attorney whom understands these laws very well. We can proceed once finances allow.

@@floridagirl386 I totally understand where you’re coming from. The worst part about sex offender rules or laws is that once you are accused that’s it. Not only in society but the prosecution all the way to the sheriffs department automatically believes you’re guilty. It’s the mirror accusation that has ruined so many lives. Florida has the highest incarceration rate when it comes to people charged with a sex ass. This all started with Matt Gaetz‘s dad who went on television and said he was going to do a scorched earth policy for sex offenders. I am totally on board for those that are guilty. However, the problem becomes when people just don’t believe you and automatically assume you’re guilty. I feel bad for your friend.

It is not necessarily the offenders that you need to worry about, the recidivism rate among offenders is almost non existent, it is the sexual predators that you need to be worried about, predators have made physical contact with their victim, such as rape and molestation, sexual battery etc.... The problem with the registry is that offenders and predators are all grouped under the same umbrella. My brother is an offender charged with exhibition 30 yrs ago when he was in his 20's and he will be on the list for life. he didn't molest or touch anyone...... offenders are not the problem.

Registering for life is quite the web of injustice, when your crime was - relieving your bladder at the side of the road, because ya had no other choice - courting your sixteen-years girlfriend when you were nineteen - curiously looking at images and videos of models who turned out to be underage - Having humanly consensual activities with a teen aggressor who wouldn't take no for an answer; who blackmailed you unless you went through; meanwhile living in a country that says the teen can't *_legally_* consent.

If sex offenders are so dangerous keep them incarcerated. From what I’ve gathered is sex offenders are least likely to reoffend than any other crime with the exception of murder. My thing is for nearly all sex offenders the embarrassment alone from getting caught, hurting a loved one and not being able to say sorry for the crime is punishment enough after the incarceration is completed. Sadly many people don’t look at sex offenders as human beings anymore and worthy of execution. Most of the time it’s the people who made bad decisions and hurt others themselves wanting to use sex offenders as scapegoats, projections and justification to ease the stigma of their own wrong doings. I know a sex offender no matter what level of crime adult or child must be put on a registry then murders, burglars, assaulters, DUI and all other felony crimes should be registered as well or do away with the registry. Registry is identical to what nazi germany was doing before and during WW2

So as somebody who is studied psychobiology for the last 15 years in practice. I don't necessarily think we should get rid of the registry in my personal opinion the registration should be redone and there should be a specialist that analyzes and interviews these people who have sex offenses to see what kind of risk they pose. Here's a situation You're at a bar bathrooms are full you going to the alley to take a leak somebody sees you reports you because they saw your genitalia now you get an indecent exposure charge that's a sex offense I don't think that warrants that person being on the registry. Because during the 1960s when the registry was put up by the federal government by the FBI it was only meant to be able to keep track of heinous offenders. And ask somebody who has studied human biology and psychology there are tons tools and modules out there to be able to interview somebody and tell without a doubt the probability of them reoffending. Moreover many states have put kids on the registry because they got charged with a sex offense boyfriend and girlfriend boyfriends 17 16 girlfriend 16 15 both are in high school but since the boyfriend's older even though he's still a minor and she's a minor and miners can't give consent but since the boyfriend is older by year or two they will charge him and now he's on the registry So you just ruined that child's life 16 17 years of age because he had a girlfriend that was a year younger than him. I understand this is a very touchy and heartfelt subject and I am not condoning what some of these monsters do cuz there are horrendous people that do stuff that need to be on the registry and need to be monitored. All I'm saying is just because you have a sex offense depending on the offense doesn't necessarily mean you need to be on the registry and monitored for the rest of your life.

None of it is Constitutional. They knew it when they were writing it. Your own Constitutional rights are worthless if you aren’t going to insist on everyone’s Constitutional rights. And we already see everyone’s rights being ignored. No ex post facto laws. It’s right in the Bill of Rights. You also can’t punish someone for what they haven’t done or what someone else did. All of this hysteria started around a priceless few high publicity crimes which were visually stunning but stunningly rare. None of it justified putting a single teenager on a registry for one day. Today teens make up the largest percentage of new entrants on the registry. It’s shameful that someone with any education should have their head so deeply buried. I couldn’t wish a registry on someone more deserving.

@MrMontanaNights
@MrMontanaNights 9 ай бұрын
Problem is, in many states felons are disenfranchised and aren't even allowed to vote. And then they're spread out over all the states, so the voting power in any particular state isn't likely enough to get much done at a state level (if they're even allowed to vote in that state). These distance and housing restrictions are all state and sometimes city imposed. The national SORNA has no housing restrictions in it at all. The number of people who have knee-jerk reactions to the offender are many times higher than the number of offenders, so the voting power is really with them. It's why politicians always give this "tough on crime" speak when it comes reelection time. No politician wants to be perceived as being "soft on pedos".

The “laws “ that legislature have made are repugnant to the constitution.Florida also even goes as far as to continue to punch someone for a crime that was decided in another state . A person who completed their punishment in another state and moved to Florida after all is completed should not be “retried and punished “ and that is what is still occurring . If someone Completed a sentence and registration requirements in the state in which their case was completed they should not be subjected to punishment again in a different state .

It depends on what exactly you did . If you have been found guilty of rape its different from someone who had consensual sex with an individual under the age of consent. Seems harsh being put on a list for life for something like that . I had sex with an older lady at 15 and it was only a month before i reached the age of consent( 16 in UK) . I 100% consented and there is no way she should have been arrested and all that entails for what we did. Americans do seem to go way over the top when anything involving sex is concerned .

Things that can put you on the sex offender registry: Possession, distribution and production of CP Streaking Rape of an adult Child molestation Public urination in some states Two teens having consensual s3x when one is below the age of consent which is called statuary rape In some states soliciting an adult prostitute like in Texas

I think reoffenders should be punished harshly and those who that are linked with other violent crimes during the act like murder, torture, maiming. I don’t think it’s fair to give someone who exposed themselves, touched inappropriately with no penetration the same restrictions as someone that raped or murdered or got violent with a child. Do you agree? Also to answer your question the law protects everyone through enforcement. Children are 1 side or it but if we as Americans allow anyone to lose their constitutional rights those same children we want to protect may face a time where they may lose all of the rights we have today. You see what’s going on about the freedom of speech.

Not to change the subject but shouldn't we start trying to protect our children from gun violence? Children are terrified of being shot in a mass shooting. As schools practice mass shooting drills it has gone Way Beyond stranger danger. If politicians truly cared about Public Safety they would enact Common Sense gun laws as well as laws pertaining to sex offenders.

Why would a sex offender want to make an issue over living near a school, parks & day care, in wasting their money, and if they have to supply info that might be consider invasion of privacy, how much info do they have to give?
@jonathanjames3442
@jonathanjames3442 Жыл бұрын
It’s not that individuals forced to register want to make an issue over living near a school. It’s that the housing restrictions imposed, which include the proximity laws, severely limit the ability to find approved housing. Oftentimes, these individuals own a home or have family that they could live with, but because of the housing restrictions they are not legally allowed to reside in their families’ or their own homes. So, the result of these restrictions are that many people on the registry are unnecessarily forced into homelessness. That’s why they take issue with housing restrictions and proximity laws. Not because they want to live by a school, daycare, or park, but because they want to have somewhere to live at all. As for what personal information people one the registry have to give it varies state to state. In general though they have to provide their full name and conviction, any identifying characteristics such as height, hair and eye color, tattoos and even birthmarks. They also have to provide their home and work addresses, phone number, any vehicle they drive’s make, model, and color (regardless if they are the owner or not). All of this information is made publicly available through online databases that anyone can access. It is very much an invasion of privacy and if an individual fails to report and provide this information within typically 3-7 days of release or a change to any of it they can be arrested and charged with failure to register and be sentenced to 2-10 years in prison.

the registry is too easily exploited by judges and legislators. It's corrupt from the get go. It's like that game show you are the weakest link. Research if it is really effective or does the job you believe it should.

If you treat say a 40 year old who rapes a 10 year old child and a 19 year old having consensual sex with a 17 who is a few months away from the age of consent in the same way as far as being put on a sex offenders list for life that does seem rather harsh.

Maybe, listen to some stories. Some of these people on the registry are teenagers having consensual sex with each other (boyfriend and girlfriend). Others are urinating in a bush. Justice isn't fair on all sex crimes. The punishment doesn't fit the crime.
