Bought an RS and was in love, my buddy let me drive his STI. I regretted buying the RS. It's a great car but I had to sell it and buy the STI. No Regrets. Both are great, it's all up what you like.

In addition to everything Sam said, STi with that spoiler has a serious image problem, at least in my area (Central California). Droopy, shiny gym pants down below butt, white t-shirt, and a baseball cap backward just barely begin to describe it.

I tested the golf R. It was very nice but boring, no sunroof. The subaru wanted a down payment for a test drive. The evolution was fast but plain inside. The RS gave me the more smiles per gallon. I bought the RS so far so good, almost 500 miles on it. I love the car.
@mikufocusrs9446
@mikufocusrs9446 7 жыл бұрын
The nearby VW dealer would not allow the Golf R test drive, neither the Focus RS at many Ford dealers. I had to choose based on how the GTI and ST drove. I actually preferred the looks (trim details inside and out) of the GTI over the R. The ST's were fantastic and the seats more sporty. I figured I wanted to learn to 'tame the beast' so I chose the RS.

The RS drive train isnt bulletproof though. The STI's tranmission and diff's can take the abuse. The RS is already having engine and rear diff issues. How many launches do you think you can get out of that RS until something breaks? I like the looks of the RS more but they really need to beef up the drive train.

I am a Subaru fan but STI needed an upgrades to compete.. It is getting heavier but horse power and torque hasn't change much for a long time. As of now, It needed the 350 HP like the RS power and flat curve torque, increase fender width to accommodate wider tire by 1 to 2 inches and better tall gearing so shift isn't as frequent. Change hood scoop to gills and rear spoiler to look like the SVX but functional.

I like the styling on the STI better. But its a sedan and not a hatchback. So that leads me to the Type R, but it's not AWD. So where did I go from there? The Golf R.

T Crash actually do but it's for the best reason in the world. It's because they keep ending up in cars they aren't meant to be in like mustangs, 240s, 350z, miatas. There has even been r35 gtrs Ls swapped and we will prolly see a ford gt and a raptor swapped to. It's the best reason to complain about it jealousy.
@CMH_1975
@CMH_1975 7 жыл бұрын
T Crash there are different variations of the LS engine with all having different power levels and actually gets good gas mileage. The 2.5 is dated and if say it's not you're just a delusional fan boy.
@motomonster525
@motomonster525 7 жыл бұрын
chibbs1975 nope not a fan boy and it's not really dated. the only thing that changed in internal combustion engines is really direct injection. gas mileage is not that bad.
@CMH_1975
@CMH_1975 7 жыл бұрын
T Crash to go 14 years or longer without a update to the engine is silly. the 2.5 isn't that good of a engine to last that long. it's outdated and definitely not making the power it should be.
@motomonster525
@motomonster525 7 жыл бұрын
chibbs1975 the sti motors are just fine. ya i could ask for motr power. the 2.5 give you room for that. the rs 2.3 does allow much wiggle room. the rs can make power but not reliably. im not here for a pissing match. to many people say the 2.5 is outdated. its really not. it does need more power but a whole motor rework is not needed for it. personally i do not want a DI engine. to many problems. costly to fix. and costly to upgrade.

lol trolls...+Ponygt 662 get your facts straight, don't be a boring Ford-only fanboy. Subie's lineup does quite well in NA..the Focus RS is great but come on, the difference isn't night and day and not to mention it is a completely new generation whereas the WRX is still on an older platform, the only really new update is just spinning the WRX off the Impreza and giving it the turbo'd FRS/BRZ engine.. Considering a brand new generation Impreza just came out give it 1 or 2 more years and we'll see the new WRX/STi..car makers are run by people without KZbin degrees, they purposely stagger new generations launches so that it beats the current older competition and the cycle continues..

I still feel the gti may still be the best car for the money. Sti has ring land issue, rs has cracked block and rear diff issue as well as terrible turning radius, gold r is good but still haldex and every time i maintain one by servicing the awd system i think how much the car could be with a system like in the evo. Gti is cheap, and has a front diff that is good. The gti is light weight and you can fit 17inch wheels on for good price sticky tires. I say the performance car i prefer would be type r or gti

nfamous_scooby that's true. Subaru already knows that people don't leave these cars stock so the didn't bother bumping up the power. Which makes sense cause these cars are meant to be personalized af.

ALL OF YOU SAYING THE FOCUS IS FASTER ARE SO WRONG. REMEMBER THE FOCUS HAS 45 MORE HP AND 60 MORE FT LBS OF TORQUE. 0-60 BETWEEN THE CARS ARE IDENTICAL. 1/4 MILE TIMES ARE IDENTICAL. 0-100 SUBARU IS FASTER. AWD SYSTEM ON SUBARU IS HANDS DOWN WAY BETTER. SO HOW IS IT THAT ALL THAT EXTRA POWER FORD PUTS INTO THEIR FOCUS JUST TIES A SUPPOSEDLY INFERIOR CAR? HMMMM MAKES YOU WONDER DOESNT IT. AND DONT ANY OF YOU SAY WEIGHT. THEY ARE ALMOST EXACTLY THE SAME. SUBARU JUST DOES MORE WITH LESS AND IS LESS EXPENSIVE. HANDS DOWN SUBARU WINS HERE GUYS.
