This is a really fascinating homily. I now have a deeper sensitivity regarding human weakness and limitations, greater compassion for those who have fallen prey to addictions, and shame to realize that I had been assuming that I can stay faithful by my own sheer determination. Glory to God in the highest. 🙏

O.O Eucatastrophe - I just realized I experienced a Eucatastrophe in 2019, when the man I was in love with, who I was living with, kicked me to the curb empty handed, with an empty pocket after I attempted su!c!de , but my brother and his now wife found me and took me home, back to my family, and I was lead back to church, I went to confession again, received the Eucharist for the first time in a handful of years, and now I'm a Lay minister. I was driven to rock bottom, but thanks to that, I was returned to The Church. Thank you for giving me this realization, Father. God Bless.

PS. I read the Lord of the rings in high school in 1970. I was madder than a wet hen when Frodo didn’t throw that ring into the cavern. I still have the books. I have gone back and read them several times. I thought it was interesting the way you wove it all in there today. It’s also amazing how each time I’ve read them at a different stage in my life. I found different and new meaning still didn’t like the end. I have never been someone who loved well. I am by my very nature very hard to love. I don’t mean to do it. It’s not intentional. It’s just my personality thank God he will help me.

Love this message for out of Love we dare to try and depend on the Lord to make us Holy. For we cannot do by ourselves for we are broken and weak, but as Scripture says: "I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me." In min 22, Father says the Lord made him a saint with his addiction, much like St. Paul who had a thorn in his side and 3 times he prays from it to be removed from him, and yes! he too was denied: For His Grace is sufficient! Paul can give us a unique testimony as someone who believes even though he hasn't been healed. St Paul can praise God, focus on things more than his body (worldly things), and demonstrate patience in suffering on Earth.

What exactly is advent? I’m new to the Catholic faith and learning about it. Trying to understand the beliefs and practices. I got a Catholic study Bible and a few more books on it. Some rosary beads as well. I have been to church before and own many Christian bibles but never felt welcomed if that makes sense and the more I study the devotion of the Catholics the more it appeals to me. 🙏 📿
@empackmanmueller17254 күн бұрын
What Is the Meaning of Advent? Within the Catholic faith, the season of Advent holds profound meaning. It serves a twofold purpose: Preparation for the Birth of Christ: Advent is a time to prepare our hearts and minds to celebrate the arrival of Jesus. We reflect on the Messianic prophecies of the Old Testament, their fulfillment in Jesus our hope (1 Tim. 1:1), and thus the mission of salvation he’s given to us as members of the one Church he founded. A Call to Conversion: It’s also a season of introspection and renewal. The liturgical color purple reminds us of our imperfections and the need for repentance. By acknowledging our shortcomings, we open ourselves to God’s grace and prepare ourselves to receive the gift of Christ. Also, penance-such as through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving-helps us quiet and discipline our hearts for the joy of Christmas (see Catechism 1434). In that light, without an Advent fast it’s harder to prepare for a Christmas. In essence, this season is a bridge between the past, present, and future. It allows us to look back on the hope for the Savior of the World, experience anew the joy of his arrival and also his reign in the present through his Church, and to prepare ourselves for his glorious return at his Second Coming.

The Advent season is a time for preparation that directs our heart and mind to Jesus Christ's second coming at the end of time. And it leads to the anniversary of our Lord's birth on Christmas. During Advent we should be reading the Bible. Spending time in the word of God. And celebrating Jesus's birth by living the way Jesus has shown us how to live our life. We should be charitable. And helping those in need. We should be singing praises to God like Christmas songs. Looking at Nativity scenes. Things like that! I love 💗 being a Catholic! I pray that you will learn so much and love building a relationship with Jesus! I'm so glad that you decided to get to know our Catholic faith! I pray that God will bless you abundantly! 😊

May God Himself remove you if you are preying on people who are trusting.

This is so frustrating. I mean it's wonderful for you that you've recovered and have all these things but it's frustrating for so many of us So many of us have gone through trauma and suffering yet, we never got the partner, the house or the great career. And whenever I hear these things it makes me feel like God just doesn't love me, like me, or for some reason wants me to lose out on those things. I know it's not your fault and you don't know God's will, but whenever Christians talk about all the stuff they got in life because they started believing it makes me, and I know many others, just feel even worse because God just passed us over. All those miracle stories just make me want to stop praying.
