​@goodnamestaken I'm not exactly sure which species of borer it is cause we can only see the front side, but rest assured it's definitely a beetle, and there are no beetles with a venomous bite. There are venomous beetles in the everglades, but they either spit the venom at you or secrete it on their body, and that bug is neither a blister beetle nor a bombardier beetle.

MOST snakes don't want to bite you, because you're not prey. That's why it took a defensive posture rather than attacking him. It requires energy to expend and produce more venom that could otherwise be used on actual prey... or not ending up as prey for something else. That snake has a more strict engagement procedure than most cops.

The Gators aren't even the worse thing, it's the smaller things that get me tbh.
