Closed my FB in 2016. I felt like I was withdrawing from heroin, but here it is, 2021, and it feels like a breath of fresh air without FB.

It’s much worse now. People have no concept of the boundary between private and public. People no longer know how to socialize properly, their anonymous internet attitude spills into face to face interaction. I try to avoid social media as much as possible.

There is a KZbinr what a channel called “without a crystal ball “and she spends at least 16 hours a day on social media and oversteps personal boundaries and thinks nothing of putting peoples personal documentation out for all to see if she’s got a beef with them or feels in her mind that the public should know about it. She’s very vile and this documentary has her name on it, just my opinion

Btw that question you've asked, allowed me to enlighten you a bit. Horsemanship: 1. Skill at riding horses; the art of handling & training them; originally for Equestrian sport (the rider called Horseman) 2. Also can be use to describing a person's attitudes or determination made by them. Why? As we all know that it's not an easy peasy task to tames them horses. Let alone to ride on their back while speeding. Imagine without having a seatbelt to ensure our safety & how to cope with them horsepower that reaching at highest peak of more than 50mph, while significantly maintaining our energy to not to be thrown off them & died possibly.

As I'm just about to watch this story im thinking to myself, "im so glad I deactivated my Fb account lol. I was an avid user of FB for many years but unfortunately some hard life hurdles came my way and it was very hard for me to cope🥺 so I decided to switch of all social media and withdraw from society and most social interaction or gatherings with friends and family. At this point of realising what I was doing I knew that I was going through something that was totally out of my control. I was going through a complex PTSD episode and FB was making a lot of those triggers over a prolonged time but I was not aware until i deactivated FB and at first it was overwhelming not being able to see what's going on or see pics of friends and family but after time and much resisting and self control i got through it and I'm proud to say that I'm still deactivated and going on a little over a year now and I have no desire in activating it either✌ I'm a face to face person not a FB person lol social media is not for everyone but I admire those who have the ability to use it to there advantage and make something of them selves.

Spot on! Its got way worse than it was back in 2011. Hundreds of documentaries and shows been made and aired on that, endless attempts to raise those concerns to the politicians and those who can make the difference if they only wanted to, no proper regulations have been put in place to control social media. They control our lives, we are THE PRODUCT apparently. Recent documentary 'The Social Dilemma' (available here on KZbin) is yet another proof that the monster is just getting bigger and more powerful. It has become an inseparable part of a money sucking system we all live in. Minimize if the will is strong enough or pull the plug completely, thats all we can do for ourselves.

Back when myspace was a thing I first heard about it through a news story. someone got fired from their job because their boss looked them up on myspace and didn't like what they saw. I said right away that I will never go to myspace. Then when facebook came out I already knew I didn't want to go on it because I knew it would be nothing but trouble.

Put your page on private friends only. Works for most sites. Employers can't see your page. They still see your profile and cover pictures however even when you change it.

Say the employer happens to know one friend of the person applying and maybe they are mutual friends. That's one way the employer (or anyone else) can see that person's page. Private settings or blocking can be gotten around one way or another. Nothing is really private. So don't be fooled.
