This is a great tutorial, thank you. May I ask, what is that semi-ring blue and green ring on the top of your controllers?
@Vidyuu3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! And great question! I believe the blue indicates what tool you are using, and green is the notification that the world is saving to the cloud :) *don’t worry about the auto save as it’s near instant, and when working with others it functions more or less like a Google doc. The main instance you’ll want to look out for is red ring, this means you have likely lost connection or there is a server error.

You make the best tutorials I have come across yet. I'm doing some research for a client and wanted to see if you had the answers as I cannot find them anywhere. 1. Can you import your own sounds/musicm 2. Can you import video or stream a video into the map? 3. Is there away to use an external mic like a XLR mic to speak with others or only the built-in mic on the oculus. Thanks so much for making these video, they are really helpful in learning this platform.
@Vidyuu2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! Right now everything is from or made in the headset, so in short no. That said, if you use the desktop app, you can use audio rerouting to determine a new microphone input, and then you could have an external source as your audio. This could enable you to record audio into the app. But only in length of up to 28 seconds. Some people have sped up the audio and then pitch shifted it down on the audio recorder gizmo which also adjusts the speed. I believe this year if we continue asking for audio and video as a feature, we will get it. But it requires us to be vocal about our wants and needs. The devs listen in the official group, definitely a great place to post bugs, feedback, and feature requests: facebook.com/groups/horizonworlds/

@@Vidyuu Thanks! How long does it usually take before they accept or reject the application?
@Vidyuu3 жыл бұрын
No rejections, if you’re not accepted you’re still on the waiting list, but the more you apply, the more likely you are to get in… last I checked it was currently only available to 18+ and those residing in North America. Hoping to see that open soon, but definitely get on the list either way, and consider applying on a weekly basis if you meet those requirements :-) While there’s no clear answer as to why/when people are getting accepted, we’ve seen some instantaneously in, and some where it takes months. I’d say the most common though is 2 to 4 weeks. Good luck! :)

@@Vidyuu Appreciate it, thank you! Have you seen creators make money off of Horizon besides competitions, or are competitions the main way to do so? It seems like Horizon Worlds is a retexurized version of Roblox, but it seems like theres more behind it than just fun minigames
@Vidyuu3 жыл бұрын
@@ItsPando21 Yeah mini games is very surface level of what's happening here, there's huge numbers of communities, some are working on movie studios, and others are just social hangouts. I think we will see a lot of new avenues for earning money over the next year and a half. In the short term, I believe the competitions are to draw in interest and fill the gap while the commerce side of things are developed. Super exciting times really! :D

I know this video came out 3 months ago but I just wanted to ask a question, is there a limit to how much you can build kinda like ink in rec room?
@Vidyuu3 жыл бұрын
Great question! There is a capacity limit to prevent frame dropping, but you can have as many worlds as you want. So you could imagine making a huge theme park, and the center is the main park, then you could have separate trails leading to secondary parts of the park. And really intense rides could be their own world. This is an idea I am actively working on :)

16:38 I've only been building for 2 days and rapidly came to the conclusion that there isn't any opacity control for text? I would really like to be able to make some of my text semi-transparent.
@Vidyuu2 жыл бұрын
To do this use and to end You can find this code and more in your asset library by searching for “text formatting.” Hex codes start at 00 and count up to ff This is where numbers count from 0123456789abcdef Some of my favorites are 10,20,30,40,50,60,70,80,90,a0,b0, etc and special shout out to fc (just below 100% opaque).

We also adore [TAB] As an example [Tab] This will make a semi transparent cube because mark is for highlighting. And tab creates a blank space. Let me find the video link…
