Facebook Live with Leanne Cianfrini, PhD | Caregiving for Individuals with a Chronic Disease

Dr. Cianfrini completed her PhD in Medical (Clinical) Psychology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Following a predoctoral internship and postdoctoral pain psychology fellowship at the University of Florida Health Sciences Center, Dr. Cianfrini returned to Birmingham, Alabama to work for The Doleys Clinic, a privately owned outpatient pain management clinic.
After 14 years as Program Director of an interdisciplinary pain management program and supporting an outpatient chronic opioid therapy clinic, Dr. Cianfrini moved to beautiful BC in December 2019 to become part of a vibrant team to support injured workers in their recovery and rehabilitation.
Dr. Cianfrini has spoken extensively at national scientific conferences and regional workshops, is Past President of the Southern Pain Society, and has been a lead author on a book and several book chapters about the role of psychology within pain management teams. She is passionate about the interdisciplinary approach to promoting a client’s wellbeing, function, and quality of life. Her clinical interests include a focus on positive psychological factors such as resilience, post-traumatic growth, use of humor, and intentional gratitude in recovery.

I’ve had CRPS since 2007. It moves through my body over the years, but I’ve always been able to travel with my husband for work. Six mo. of the year we’d be in Japan, Austria, Germany, etc.; 35 countries so far. It’s our passion, started when we were 17. Now we’re 63, the kids are grown, and my dh is my caretaker along with getting radiation for his Stage 4 prostate cancer. My CRPS is now in both FEET so I’ve been bedridden since Sept. ‘21 (11 mo.) except for doctor appts. I go to major city university hospitals 90 min. away to those who are familiar with CRPS. A series of epidural blocks just failed. It’s too painful to ride in a car now - I’m talking screaming, because of my back. No one will give opiates in my area PERIOD, so next week my whole extended family is driving to OBX for our Christmas present to the 6 kids and their families, right on the beach, and I’m staying home for the 8 days. I was in grief/loss counseling for many months (we lost 2 sons) until I couldn’t drive anymore. I’m deaf so I don’t do televisits unless the technology for captions develops. Sorry for rambling! I’m in extra pain tonight.

I have had RSD for 16 years it's the worst nothing has help so just live day today no pills no physical therapy nothing all has completely fail I wish this on no one just sayin

I had CPRS Type 20+ years, Everyones different on what works,what work for me,watch foods u eat it can cause flare ups,take meds regular,keep busy, if have flare up I can only use sleep as defense,sleep until flare up goes away & try to keep positive &I know that's hard,It's mental Game: Stay strong
