Hi all Just an update on the calves, got a serious amount of private messages on the issue we were having and apparently it’s a common thing from the Milkshake additive we are using in our milkreplacer! Completely harmless I’m told which in fairness makes sense as there still thriving as normal. That was music to my ears, just gotta love the help we get from people, as that type of advise is invaluable to us. The part on the wall is from our Honda 300 ( engine mount ) so well done to those who guessed it right 👏👏

Hi, great video as usual. The workshop is really taking shape. One suggestion I would make is don't mount the vice on the bench' make I separate stand becide the bench that way any welding slag or grinding will stay off your bench plus when you hammering or wrenching everything won't vibrate off the bench.
@IFarmWeFarm

That’s a very good idea Marty, I’ll take your advise and built a steel stand for the vice right next to it. Be much stronger too, thanks for the tip 👌👍

Your thriftiness is apparent and commendable as you repurpose and reuse in your new shop. The SS restaurant cabinet will make a solid cabinet and work surface. It is always interesting to see how you manage your lovely, family dairy farm. Thanks for today’s video. (The fields look very healthy.)

As for the stainless steel counter I think you got it for a really good price! I was thinking that maybe those little spaces were probably used for trays and/or drawers. I was thinking you could, if you wanted, use one or two for drawers and one you could use for things like levels and long rulers (if you don’t plan on hanging them up), or just use all of the openings for drawers. Thanks for posting!

Cool table. Handy. I agree with the guy who recommended not mounting the vice to the stainless steel table. Not enough support for vise work. Hammering things would cause everything to vibrate off the table.

I like the idea of the door swinging out to save space just make Sure it’s well secured when you have it open as I unfortunately had an elderly neighbour passed away due to his garage door swinging out a strong gust of wind got a hold of the door as he was exiting and knocked him right out .

One thought on your work bench. You will find that sparks from grinding and welding will stick to it and will make rust spots. May be worth putting something to protect the top. Your metal bracket was from the engine mount on the honda 300 quad.

In relation to forgetting your keys; my french teacher in school taught: Les Français disent: "Quand on a pas de tête, on a des jambes." The French say: “When we have no head, we have legs.” I never get annoyed about forgetting things knowing this, coupled with the Wisdom of St. Paul: "I used to complain about having no shoes until i met a man with no feet" as told to me by my Father. How many guys live up the road from your place?? :- )

I would think that those small openings on the stainless workshop table was for wraps for sandwiches. I think you would be happier if you put a wood work surface on the stainless table. That stainless is going to be so loud even if you drop a wrench on it. Get some peg board to hang tools on - on the wall behind the table. I just love your channel. I can't believe how green your grass is and you have the cows out already. Sure not happening in Wisconsin!

Hi Adrian, could be a silly question but why do use milk replacer? Would it not be better for calves, more cost effective and less labour to use milk from the cows?
@IFarmWeFarm
@IFarmWeFarm Жыл бұрын
I do that sometimes but with the current price of milk i just when with a replacer this time, plus I find there’s fare less issues with scour too. I feed before milkings so there’s no warming milk or so on. It’s a little bit hander

Good afternoon sir or morning whenever your reading this... I have very similar benches ex catering .. but I do recommend a separate heavy table as the stainless is loud 😮😮 when chappin at something on it and has a fair bit of bounce to.. the vice bolt it on a stand to the ground at the very end of the table and attach it to the table at the top all shock waves with travel straight down to the ground and not through the bench... stay safe 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Have you considered using a plasters whisk and a battery driver for mixing up all your calf powders, would save on the arms. Not such as mistake to learn from, but something we’ve changed for the better.

I would say on my own experience with calves dark runny muck it's down to the hard feed with. I'll have feed and water in front of them from day 1 eighvin though they don't eat any in the beginning they just play with it. But after a bit one suddenly eats a load and then the muck changes colour and consistency.
