Hi Andy I'm Looking at buying a multiplier reel. I used one before but didn't really get along with it. Whats the best way of learning how to use one properly please?

for the reel, does the mag function like those magnetic cast control?

Hi, want to buy a multiplier and was looking at Penn 525, but not sure if should go for the mag 2 or the mag 3. What are your thoughts on these reels, and which one you think is better, please?

I learned to cast on multiplier reels when I was 6 years old, ... when I first saw a spinning reel,... I asked, ... “What the fuck is that”….? I’m 63 now and the spinning reel still looks Alien to me and have never liked them…! I cast big heavy lures with a 12 'St. Croix Avid Surf paired with a pristine ABU 10000c, ... I love my old-school heaver setup…!

I have my reel mounted up the rod so its controlled by my right hand. I see many anglers have the reel low down. What is the right way? I have tried mounting the reel lower but find it uncomfortable. when casting. Either way, I still get the same distance. Any useful advice much appreciated.

If you are happy with the distances and performance you're getting, don't bother changing to reel down. Reel up actually keeps the reel away from the sand and rocks much better than down. BTW, i use the reel down. Gotten used to it a long time ago. Happy fishing;-)

The reason for the over run, he was holding the rod in one hand I thought he was going to let go, and he didn’t thumb the spool when the lead hit the water result over run .....

Chris Buttery you can't you have to strip it down and take them out, I recommend penn mag 515 2 for beginners or pros I bought 1 then bought another 2 a week later absolute class reels, easy to use and you can set your brakes from the side of the reel

Chris Buttery the 525 has centrifugal brakes which me the harder you whack the more the brakes come on

I've been researching braid on multiplier reels due to their sensitivity, few guys have swapped over using a 50lbs plus and loving it. What are your views?

Tried it long time ago, and skinned my thumb. From that point on, braid only on fixed spools for me lol

Why hold the rod upside down? and I’m right handed, that would feel so uncomfortable reeling with the right hand looks completely pointless and awkward AF lol
