I was next to Sharon on the beach in Spain in 2012 . She played the Primavera Sound Festival that night . I was there with my ex boyfriend at the time. We traveled there from Philadelphia . It was also one of the best times of my life . After my breakup in 2014 I used this record as my therapy to get me through . Love you Sharon ! 🖤🙏

This is almost uncomfortably honest. I feel like i'm listening to a conversation between a therapist and a patient.

socially-awkward enough (at best) or fucking sadistic enough to inflict emotional pain on someone else to get some views on youtube? What bravery...

Others that have written here are so squeamish: if this interview were exploitative, it WOULD be "the worst", but this is an amazing interviewer able to mine depths in the fascinating person is this awesome talent Sharon van Etten. Funny in the interview to hear the sirens that still go off every first Monday of the month, keeping in practice for when the Netherlands is attacked again - about 75 years since the last time!

yes the interview content itself is very intimate. But another factor here is the way the shot is framed. The camera isn't placed behind the interviewer's shoulder. Instead it's in between the two of them. no camera placed far away, zooming in. The power of a single!

Sharon, you need both. Music and a relationship. I realize this is an over simplification and that its complicated but I think each of these things are important. They are the air you breath. And they'll always be at odds. Like much of life, in the the contradiction there is the perfect symmetry. Of course I could be full of shit.

She looks clearly irritated by the interviewer's rude prying. You'd think he'd get the hint and move on to less invasive conversation.
