Dr. Niamtu I've been compliating on a lower facelift. I give myself facial mask once or twice a week. My face looks tighten of course, much younger looking face. My question is will my outcome look similar to my facial mask? Also, looking through your before and after photos and I do not see many African Americans you preformed this procedure on, as our skin is different. Can this compromise my outcome?

Thanks for watching. Lie down on the floor, put your chin up towards the ceiling and look in a hand mirror. That is what your result should approximate in the head and neck. I am happy to look at pics [e-mail] I do more Caucasians than African-American and Asians (as most people do which parallels the population). I have done plenty of African American facelifts and you will find them on my site. I will say that minority patients are much less agreeable to having their pictures posted and frequently want more privacy. Dr. Joe

Hi doctor, love your videos. What is the cause of dents/dimples underneath cheekbone after neck/face/cheeklift? Is it because the suture was pulled too tight and do they resolve?

While I can't comment on your case, we see them sometimes and they almost always go away. I have had a few that I used a permanent filler to plump.

Hi Dr Joe. I am having a SMAS facelift in Dec. My doctor does not think it's necessary to make an incision under my chin as he feels when they pull the skin and muscle up, automatically the excess skin under my chin will dissappear. I've read up that if an incision is not made under the chin to tighten the platysma bands, they could sag in a few months time again. I mentioned this to my doctor and mentioned it's not necessary in my case. Are there cases when it's not necessary. I also don't want to undermine my doctor because his been practicing for many years. Should I just trust his judgment. I live in South Africa. If I resided in your Country, I would of seen you.😊

My thoughts are if you have bands, you need to do platysmaplasty. All docs are different. He should be able to show you many cases he has done.

I use them on 3-4% of our cases. Basically only on patients that exhibit increased bleeding during surgery.

It can take 4-6 weeks before the tightness and numbness improves, sometimes earlier, sometimes longer
