This caller insisted that being made to wear a facemask is "a baby step towards a dictatorship", so surely he can answer just one of James O'Brien's questions about that dictatorship.

@@peach495 They don’t wear it to protect against Covid. There’s a difference. These masks are almost certainly ineffective against transmission of Covid. Also, you don’t have to wear an N95 mask. You can wear any face covering. Germany and Austria made N95 masks mandatory in public yet began to get higher numbers of cases than anywhere else in Europe. The OED defines it as "noun a person, especially a politician, who strives to appeal to ordinary people who feel that their concerns are disregarded by established elite groups:" Webster's "1. member of a political party claiming to represent the common people especially, often capitalized : a member of a U.S. political party formed in 1891 primarily to represent agrarian interests and to advocate the free coinage of silver and government control of monopolies 2: a believer in the rights, wisdom, or virtues of the common people."

Look at the democrat run cities in America. They have turned in Ghettos with drugs and homeless, or are on fire from rioting! Even the democrat voters there have had enough and are leaving in masses. @M. Olsen. i get the argument about paying the poor. I am from a very poor family and grew up in social housing. No arguments there. But we simply dont have enough houses, school spaces and healthcare slots for the UK people living here. And we cannot meeting the building needs as they are now. Ironically that is one of labour's criticisms of the conservatives even though it was worse since they were in power. You cannot import voters at the expenses of your own (poor ) people. It's short term-ism, and does not get inclusion and diversity. You just end up with segregated even poorer communities who do not want to integrate or mix and it causes massive problems. Not that Keir can see them from his nice house and community!

I've always thought the excuse was insane. If you have asthma you need a mask! 💪💪👌

I've worn a mask at work for years. The only danger is to the cashier...and as long as they cooperate its minimal.

I work in healthcare and every cold and flu season I get 2 or 3 colds or get sick because I am around sick people all the time, but since covid and I have to wear a mask while I am working 0 colds....probably will wear them every cold and flu season while I am around patients...makes sense to me.

I am starting to LIKE my mask. No allergies nor bronchitis this year for me! (I chalk that up to wearing the masks). Such a simple thing that has amazing benefits....I am sold on mask wearing! Not a burden at all.
