As a college student, I attended Elmer McCurdy's funeral. Our college, Central State University, (now UCO), donated an antique horse drawn hearse to use in the event and the Guthrie Cowboy Re-enactors at the time dressed up in 1880's attire held the funeral and put him in the ground. It was a very cool event which I will always remember!

George’s story was very, very common. And, yes, I would be very interested in the development of sewer systems in rural American counties. I was raised in Knoxville, TN, and there was a 19th century farm house that I admired that someone once told me had only had electricity laid on and plumbing installed in the 1960’s. It’s probably gone now. It was really closed to a road in West Knoxville…

Shoulder belts were required to be standard equipment in all new cars for the 1968 model year begining in September 1967 when the new cars hit the showroom floor, some luxury cars offered them as options in 1965-66. Back in 1949 Nash Rambler car company was the first to offer lap seat belts as an option; but very few ordered them installed, throughout the 1950s into the 1960s they were only an extra option to order on your new car.

In the 50’s, most cars had steel or aluminum dashboards, no seat/or shoulder harnesses, steering columns that did not collapse and windshields that shattered, sending hundreds of shards of glass into passengers faces/ bodies, jaws of life were things of the future as were airbags. A 25 mph collision was often a death sentence .

That bandit story- it was a bit long at the beginning- but that is one hell of a story. You should polish your stuff up (write a script and get an editor) make about twelve episodes of these “regular people” cemetery stories, and try to sell it to a network. You have a nice voice and you are doing some great stuff!👍 And, NO, we don’t know about these stories! This is local history! If you aren’t local, you probably won’t know the story! I worked for an historical collection for 8 years back in the 1980’s-90’s. Local history is filled with fascinating people and stories. Coming at it from a respectable graveyard perspective would pull in the paranormal interest (respectful might turn off the networks). Anyway, keep going. I subscribed ✌️
