That’s exactly what I need- asymmetry in my face since my facial reconstruction after my head on collision. My left side sits higher up vertically but is lower in depth. My mouth is sideways. It droops down on my right side. They fixed my rhinoplasty crooked to match the other angles of the face. It’s so hard to even look in the mirror. I don’t even get ready anymore

I cried during this entire episode. My left side of my face became paralyzed a week before I had my son (he turns 9 next month January 2025), and my doctor said it wasn't permanent, but here I am 9 years later, and I have recently realized that the whole time they had been lying to me so they could avoid a malpractice lawsuit. They were 100% negligent in providing me with medical care and had they provided me with medical treatment and not ignored all of the signs and symptoms and not just ignoring everything I was experiencing, I would have had a very different outcome. But then to continue to do nothing and tell me I would recover only to feed me medication for anxiety and nothing else, I had to find out on my own that I am never getting my face back and now there isn't anything I can do. The amount of self worth and self esteem that I have lost, I am forever a shell of the woman I would have been. I cut out my family, my friends, and my own happiness. The amount of joy that is taken away by not ever being able to laugh or smile is truly crippling. The way the people look at me and treat me now compared to before, it's just so hard to explain the devastation I have experienced. I was voted best smile at my HS in 2003, and never would've thought that 13 years later I'd have no smile to share. My son is the ONLY thing that kept me going and that is something that I really think about every single day and it's just so hard to keep going. Nobody knows just how much I struggle to go on with my life because nobody knows how devastating loosing the ability to smile and not have someone look at you strange or laugh at you because they think you're making a funny face to be silly, I've had strangers come up to me from the side and tell me I am beautiful, and when they see my full face they are like oh never mind the moment I try and thank them. I know I sound vain as hell, but I would bet money that nobody reading this post would go a day out in their own community with their face taped up all crooked and noticeably distorted from their face they are so familiar with as their own. I have challenged dozens who are quick to dismiss how it's broken me, but not a single person has been able to go anywhere in public and prove their heartless ignorance isn't a cruel way to dismiss what they believe is not a big enough deal.
