My niece starts Med School tomorrow! It’s been a long road, but she started talking about becoming a doctor when she was a very small child. It was her first and longest lasting dream. She got her white coat on Friday. It takes personal commitment and non-stop familial support to get a kid, a non-rich kid anyway, all the way to med school. And even more to get them through it! I totally agree with her. It is important in the black community to have black doctors who understand what it’s like to be in the skin we’re in. We are often marginalized in healthcare and our needs often go unmet by doctors who have biased views or simply misunderstand rhe different neuances that come with having more melanin in our skin. She looks great I hope we get to see her when she’s fully healed after all the swelling goes completely down.

It's the same feeling I got when President Obama took his seat as the first African-American president of the United States of America. I don't have any kids, never married. I'm getting old lol. A lot of the neighborhood kids come hang out with me when I'm outside enjoying the weather. I was watching your show. Maya was so surprised to see a black surgeon on tv. At that moment, she decided she wanted to be a facial plastic surgeon. That was a profound moment to witness the future be so inspired by one of her own! I told her to go visit you when she graduates. She's 10 now! One day I'll get my coins together and come see you! I need to get my sexy back, lol. Thank you for all you do, it helps us. All I do is dream of a beautiful facelift. I'm so happy for the people that were blessed to be able to get one. The doctor from Baltimore touched home for me. I was born and raised there, Worked hard helping the people there get jobs, training , Geds, drug treatment you name it in a very dangerous city full of crime, that took the life of my 17 yr old son. I lost my home, left my city job, working for the Mayors office and moved to the country in NC to save my sanity. It still didn't stop me from working to help people and at 69 I still work in human services. Being 69 has aged my face, but losing a child didn't help. I dream of a facelift all the time, but know I'm just dreaming. Doc, I am more then proud of you, because, my bright and highly intelligent son, probably could and would have been successful like you! I will pray that God continues to bless you and your family

While some surgeons may occasionally offer complimentary procedures for special cases, these decisions are usually based on specific criteria beyond financial need. It's important to manage expectations realistically and realistically you’re not going to get a free procedure based on your story! If this sounds a bit harsh, I find your “Cry Me a River”approach extremely distasteful and cringe worthy 🙄Keep dreaming though!
