I am not really a fan of popular KZbinrs putting their families infron of cameras for the sake of views. But something about this video is different. It is genuine. He is opening up his life to showcase the hardships of people and to spread the love. I really don't like watching personal videos of KZbinrs, but I keep coming back to these videos for the positivity and vibes this series promote. Andrew really is a gem of a person.

@Jordan Carreira I suppose or hope so what he/she meant was generally you see a lot of guys trying to be all cool and macho infront of the camera in such scenarios. But the Rea family conversation was much more genuine, heartfelt and with zero pretentious behaviour. They showed their vulnerability (which is sometimes unseen in maintream media) and while doing so, they showed their insane courage. Hope you have good day.

I had cancer. Routine exam found it. Blew my mind as the routine exam wasn't even for any symptoms. My youngest, 3, had stepped on my chest and I was having discomfort 4 months later. Doc was just being thorough in his tests before he assumed it was related to being stepped on or a car accident from 2 years ago. Had stress test, EGD, and finally an ultra sound. Been just a few months and I was lucky, caught early and they got all of it (kidney 2.6 cm tumor). All I can think about is if it comes back and my 2 girls and my wife. Keep me in your prayers brother and take care of that new wife and family.

As men we usually (well I think I can speak for most of us) tend to stay strong, like nothing is bothering us “playing it cool” and helping those who need it the most I remember when I went to a funeral, it was my grandpas brother who died, and he has cried like twice according to my father, when he lost his mom, and this one, and seeing him crying was one of the worst feelings of all time, so I gathered all of my mental strength stand at his side, give him a big hug, and telling him “it’s ok, just let it out” and he started letting tears drop, and I was broken at that point, but until I got home I bursted into tears, it feels awful, but hey this is what we need to do

"Cancer embodies some of the things we fear most as human beings: pain, uncertainty, unfairness, loss, death." God that hit me hard. My mom was diagnosed with when I was 18. When she told me and my siblings, and I had a class to get to not an hour later. I remember going to the campus, getting in class, sitting down, and then getting up and walking away. I spent hours walking around town that night, trying not to be consumed with the fact that, very soon, I could lose my mom. The treatment was incredibly hard on her and our entire family, but today she is cancer free. About a year after the diagnosis, her sister, my aunt, was diagnosed too, but the cancer was too advanced and we lost her a few months later. Their mother had cancer before I was born, but she fought it like hell and I'm very grateful to have her in my life. Cancer is something that I deeply fear, but know that one day I might have to face myself. This story felt incredibly bittersweet, for the happy moments you gave them and the support for their son's future, but still knowing this is all there is to be done. Thank you for sharing their story, as well as yours.

This highlights a concept I've seen become more prevalent in my life in the last couple of years: Caring for the Caregivers. When someone gets sick, people tend to come out of the woodwork to flock to the person in need. But we often forget about the one that's usually there the whole time looking after them (a parent, a spouse, a child, etc). When my grandmother, whom we lived with, was diagnosed with cancer in 2009, my mother silently became her primary caregiver. It wasn't until just after Mema died two years later that I realized the toll it really took on my mom, emotionally and physically. So the day after she passed, me, my sister, my mom, and my aunt all went out and got our nails done and had a spa day to pamper my mom for all the work she did and all the heartache she went through. Don't wait so long to care for the caregivers in your life like I did. Show them they're not alone now.

My dad passed away with cancer when I was 13. He became sick so quickly and it was crazy seeing him go from a physically strong, amazing dad, to barely being able to stand. It is one of the most heart wrenching memories that I have. He was a happy, loving spirt, who loved cooking. He always encouraged my cooking, or anything I was interested in. I miss him more than I can explain and to see other people go through this same experience breaks my heart. My dad would hate me being sad, because he always had a smile on his face and he tried to spread positivity and joy to everyone he met, but man it’s hard not having him here anymore. I love their smiles and the happiness they share. Love is a wonderful thing and I wish the best for them and their son

My father passed away from cancer 3 years ago. The grief never really goes away. It dulls in a way and goes to the back of the mind. But it comes back in this really intense way by the most weird things like standing next to a man on the subway wearing the same cologne as my dad did. Anyway. Thank you for this episode. I also lost my father around March of this(2021) and there's been times where I've been mostly well, but other times I just ball and miss him so much and terribly. Even though he did die, he passed away in my house with my mom by his side. And it's a bittersweet feeling. And I'm blessed to have had him in my life. I just want to hug him again so badly.

There’s a line from Macklemore’s Glorious that gets me every time. “I heard you die twice, once when they bury you in the grave/ And the second time is the last time that somebody mentions your name.” I lost my dad when I was just barely 15 and my mom 8 yrs later (same month). They have 3 grandchildren they never met between my siblings and I. I try to keep them alive in sharing memories, pictures, lessons I learned from them, I want my daughter to know them as best as she can and keep them alive a little longer. What you did for this family is immeasurable.

This amount of vulnerability is amazing to see. I lost my sister to breast cancer just two months ago and my mother to cancer when I was 4. My father has been through more sorrow in his life, that I can imagine, but like your father and Christian, he has done everything within his power for his family. My mother and my sister were strong and graceful spirits all the way until the end. Cancer is a hard process to go through in any manner. Thank you for your strength and impact you’ve made on this couple’s life.

Talking about cancer reminded me when I lost both my parents. I lost my dad 4 years ago when I was 16 and 2 years later my mum. Both died of cancer and I was lucky that I’m not alone and I have an older sister. She’s carried all the weight and dealt with both the funeral and government issues because I wasn’t 21. I’m so glad that you had talked about going through with losing your mum to cancer because it really gives people a more open understanding about cancer and the loss.

Cancer took two family members from me last year and it’s horrible, I’m just honoured I got to know my grandad and my great uncle for 19 years, even when the cancer had gotten to them they never stopped fighting and always kept their sense of humour up so the rest of us could still have a laugh, but your totally right having babish do a video like this is really great, for something that takes so many peoples lives each day people still don’t really know a whole lot about how it works, what the signs are or just how you cope with a diagnosis of yourself or a family member. And I’m sorry to hear you lost your parents you should be proud of your yourself and your sister, and I hope that you live on in their memory, that’s what I try to do when I struggle or am sad I think of my uncle and my grandad and remember how proud I am to be one of their family members.

Man, she was so bubbly and energetic and happy through this whole thing, but when that message about the fund for her son hit she just broke. She probably found ways to cope day-to-day with her own diagnosis, and she can do things to try and lift up her husband's spirits, but I'm sure she worried every day about her son's future and not being able to be there for it. I love everyone here. Emily for facing her situation with incredible force, Christian for doing his absolute best in the face of hardship, and Andrew/BCU for lifting them up and doing something special for them. This doesn't feel like a typical TV moment, this feels like a genuine sincere gesture from someone who cares. RIP Emily.

I hope in years to come Felix looks at this video and see's how much his mam cares about both him and his dad, because this was just incredible it just shines through the screen. My fiancèe's mam is also battling terminal cancer but still even at her worst moments her motherly nature shines through by fussing over her own kids and even myself. Hats off to you dude. I lost my dad at 16 to illness. To see you guys talk about it and do what you guys do give helps so much.

This is why people love babish, not because of the recipes, which are amazing, but because he’s a nice, fun guy who is amazing to watch
