Everyone knows the Jackass crew for sick stunts and crude humor. However, something that people may not associate with them is technological feats.

True fact, Jackass 3 had its premier at the museum of modern art (Moma) in New York City and I always thought made a weird sense.

If speckles and lines of paint smudged on canvas can be called modern art, how could anyone say Jackass isn't?

@@SuperFizzah You know little about modern art if you think Jackass would somehow be completely alien to genre.

I love how much the Jackass crew go above and beyond what they need to just because they can. Sure, they could get away with doing this shit on a mobile phone camera, but instead they get the most expensive equipment they can because you don't expect it.

You’re not wrong. Of every movie I watched in theaters in 3D, only 2 were worth it, and felt like it enhanced the experience. Avatar and Jackass 3D.

I love hearing and sharing the story of 3D in movies like Jackass and Avatar. It'll be a shame when people start making real 3D movies again and dilute this amazing tale of cinema.

The problem with 3D when it went mainstream is that it requires an entirely different approach to filming and editing, it's way more involved than just "film it with a 3D camera". Adding depth perception to an image is makes it so much more immersive that traditional photography techniques can really screw it up, simple things like depth of field need to be seriously reconsidered and used appropriately. And even simple editing decisions like using a crossfade can completely ruin the illusion.

Excuse me, the Jackass game was fun as hell. It was a series of minigames loosely based on stunts they did in real life. There was one where you have to get your character (who is riding a shopping cart).close to the edge of the building without sending him off (or just send him flying off the edge. Another with you in a bubble and if you click the button at the right point your character rag dolls out of the bubble and you have to launch him as far as possible.

I went to the cinema to see Movie 43, it's the only film I've ever left early. I usually like to give films a chance in case it's just a slow starter, but it was eye-wateringly bad. For context, I love Sharknado series and The Room

A thing about 3D movies that is really horrible is that the 3D effect is based on your eyes looking the same place that the camera is, so as an audience you can't really focus on what the camera doesn't want you to focus on. In Avatar, there is so much happening on screen, and not just in the center of the screen. It can give you vertigo. Jackass wins because, even beyond the technology, the shot composition is great, and the focus moves around on screen too instead of just staying in the center while action moves across the screen like in other bad films of the time. Tron Legacy was great but it mostly kept the focus at the center of the screen.

Actually, the Red One digital cinematic camera was ludicrously inexpensive and revolutionised, not only indie films but, Hollywood as a whole. So, yeah, whilst it was utilised by Blockbusters, it was also used by cheap television productions and low budget films. Just as with ubiquitous 35mm film cameras of the not too distant past, it comes down to the choices of the cinematographer and their skills how the final images will turn out with a Red, film, Alexa or even Blackmagic cameras. The fact that the DP achieved usable 3D shots in single non-repeatable live takes is the most astounding bit. James Cameron could pretty much do as many as he felt he needed.

I know. Like, he said everyone except Seth Rogan and James Franco died in the first 5 minutes, buti would argue Jay Baruchel was the main character. Not to mention Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson, and the legendary appearance of Emma Watson. And I would contend that even though he had a minimal role, Danny McBride and his gimp Channing Tatum carried that movie.

it also had a showing at the musuem of modern art which pissed a lot of people off. mainly because they didn't like the idea that their favourite stunt series is pretty much one of the greatest long-running performance art pieces in history. people don't like the idea that modern and comtemporary art is anything but stuffy, pretentious and inaccessible.

No joke, i saw lots of 3d movies when Jackass 3d came out and they were all between "nearly unwatchable" and "really didn't need to be 3d". Except jackass. That one really made sense in a weird way. the way it was edited didn't give me a headache. so yes, 100% onboard

Karl should listen to his coworker's genuinely good ideas more often. Immediately shooting down a genius intro idea like that so nonchalantly was a disappointment, and a bad look for Karl as a boss. I don't know if it's scripted or not, but either way, I would have at least considered the idea before being like "... just no."

Love the background and setting of this brand new video re-upload, much more professional, but turning down the disembodied voice's idea for an intro was stupid, not something you should be doing going forward in these videos that go backwards in time.

I saw Jackass 3d in a theater that uses Dolby 3d and holy crap that was a nauseating experience. Dolby 3d was choppy and headache inducing. Luckily by then I've already seen another 3d movie in IMAX which used RealD and it was incredible. I was pissed I wasted time and money on a shit theater for a 3d movie
