If I were a famous actor, I'd agree to such a contract, but I had my lawyers add a binding clause to that contract that the studio could only use my likeness 25 years after I died. And if they used my likeness too early or when I was alive, they'd have to pay out $2 million per second my likeness is on screen to either me, if I was still alive, or my surviving family.

Carrie Anne Moss actually broke her ankle trying to land the big somersault off the wall in the Skyscraper Lobby Shootout scene. You know the one where she jumps, meets the wall and runs 4 steps and then somersaults as the wall behind her gets obliterated in slow motion? It was supposed to be one take but its split between watching her run the wall from the front and then it cuts behind her for the somersault and landing from behind her. When she did the single take, she twisted her ankle and reportedly was very dissapointed that she didn't make the whole shot and held things up a bit.

This reminds me of the situation with Crispin Glover with Back to the Future 2. He had a similar issue with them stealing his likeness after he refused to be in the sequel. He won that case so it's insane to think that they are still trying to steal people's likeness.

Are there any fun facts on Jet Li's "The One"? It's the Matrix if Jet Li was allowed to be the leading man. I also like that the protagonist and antagonist perform complementary sister styles Bagua "8 Trigrams" and Xing Yi "Form-Mind" kung fu in their choreography. It pays to have skilled martial arts actors to express nuances in their fighting or else every movie just looks like everyone's practicing the same basic kickboxing style.

I remember seing an ad for this movie on TV when I was like 6, and only phrase from an ad being like "Jet Li... against himself" and after that I never watched it and completlely forgot about it. The worst bit of the scanning extras is that there are many actors we know now who started as background performers, such as Leonardo di Caprio and Brad Pitt. If their likeness was taken during their smaller roles, they wouldn't have had the opportunity to become known, as they wouldn't ever be hired again to show their acting ability. Only nepo babies and those who studios wanted to promote would be famous actors, with anyone else being digital extras for the rest of time

The thing I love about the pseudointellectualism of The Matrix, is that Futurama literally does it better. Now I've not read Simulation and Simulcra, so I'm not aware of the particular themes of that book, but the last episode of the latest season of Futurama is a far better discussion about the value of reality and what constitutes reality without having its head shoved up its own ass.

In the lobby shootout in the first film, none of the guys they fight are agents. They're all just regular guys who probably just think they're stopping a mass shooter. Then Neo crashes a helicopter into a building. Neo is a terrorist and is definitely the bad guy.
