I think Superman's perspective on seeing through clothes is likely the same as studio artists that paint human models. At some point you've seen so many bodies that it elicits no reaction whatsoever.

They show the clip but they don't give the full context. In Smallville when he first gets his X-ray vision he is is gym class and he gets a peak into the women's locker room and sees Lana naked. It is technically an accident, but he doesn't look away either so...

2:56 - Karl’s narration of how Superman’s lecture comes off differently from different perspectives reminds me of the graphic novel ‘Luthor’ which was either a one shot comic or a miniseries (forget which offhand) which is told from Lex Luthor’s point of view, and all of Superman’s few appearances in in, Superman comes off as this foreboding entity, with his face cast in shadows and his eyes glowing red. And from what I can remember, he never does anything actually antagonistic or threatening and pretty much only stuff he’d do in a regular Superman comic, but because we’re seeing things from Luthor’s perspective, we’re seeing him as this alien, god-like menace.

In the latest Batman comic, silent knight, Batman is teaming up with Santa who is a Norse demi god that hunts monsters and apparently taught Batman some of his skills. At the end of issue 2 when Batman and crew is fighting vampires unleashed by krampus, Superman shows up to help and just says “you didn’t say you knew Santa.”

It doesn't show that he has no self control, it shows how human he wishes to be. You think the lead wrapping stops him from discovering what's inside? He could unwrap and rewrap lead lined presents in less than a second if he wished. Superman wants good surprises. His parents know that he needs to xray around the house occasionally for the greater good, so keep the presents a surprise.

Love seeing Karl all cozy in his jumper, and Superman loving Christmas is just the best( even if he has to wrap his presents in lead foil. Edit: had to say I never thought of it that way Karl, that may be the sweetest thing ever to make sure the magic of Christmas isn’t ruined for a completely adult person who’s never been introduced to the holiday. I think in some show or comic superman tells someone that people look really weird and smushed up under clothes and it's not as sexy as you might think. So he has looked in the past. Also, when he's looking through buildings to stop/find crimes he has probably seen a lot of people dogging. Not on purpose, but it still happened. But this is more a thing you're not supposed to think about. Like how does superman pee in the suit. Does he have to take the entire thing off, or does he just have a super bladder and is he able to hold it in a very long time?

On a related note to the "from the billionaire's perspective" thing, I've also heard the debate around whether superman being superman means it's possible for someone to consent with him. Like, it's all well and good we the audience know he would never abuse his powers, but from other characters in story's view? Results may vary.

In my opinion, Supes might have had been expecting something special, something he was hoping for in particular from his parents. As for using his xray vision to peak into buildings, he'd probably use his hearing to check where it would most likely be first. But i wouldn't put it past him doing it early on, before he was completely in control of it.

i forget what issue, but in the comics Superman dresses all in black and wears a mask and lifts a sleigh and reindeer with perry white dressed as santa so that local kids will see 'santa' flying around the city. Also Santa is REAL in the DC universe. he sneaks into apocalypse every year to give darkseid some coal, despite Darkseid upgrading the security system every year,.

Iirc, there’s at least one comic where Superman has said he hates having to patrol Gotham when Batman is out of town as a favour to Batman because there’s so much lead and other stuff that messes with his x-ray vision in all the buildings.

If I remember correctly, there was an episode of Justice League Unlimited where Luthor kept provoking Superman with borderline suspicious behavior, but nothing Superman could ever prove, culminating in a secret underground, lead-lined room that Superman breaks into and destroys, which turned out to contain a machine that would only help humanity. Pretty sure that's what lead to Captain Marvel (Shazam) quitting the Justice League.

I think one thing that people forget is that Superman, as an adult, is a boy scout. It doesn't matter if he 'can' see through a woman's clothes, he's not going to. Why? Because if she pulls up her shirt in front of him to flash him, his head will be facing the other way at the speed of sound, one hand blocking his field of vision, with a face redder than his heat vision.

On a lesser degree, in one of the many Batman cartoons, they changed his backstory to take place at Christmas, and the Waynes took Bruce to see a Zorro film because he threw a tantrum over not getting the present he wanted for Christmas and was still sulking all the way until they were ambushed in the alleyway and gunned down.
