solid review! I'm skating the souls on some Salomons and loving them. As far as soulplates slowing down, I've put some thought into this, it seems like the only logical reason why souls get slow is because dirt gets mixed in with the wax and then skated over repeatedly until it basically mixes with the plastic. I like to hit my souls with a heat gun and then wipe them off with a paper towel, seems to keep them consistent.

FYI, the latest batch they changed up the stock hardware. Frame bolts have been upgraded...no more ledge on the bolts and they also include a shock absorber heel insert reminiscent of the Dead shock absorber... actually they're better imo. Molded perfectly to sit atop the foot bed insert. I'm surprised they aren't selling them as a separate purchase on their site for those that want a refresh from previous batches.

Try them with the USD7 soul plates. OMFG! it is already an incredible skate as you said, now that boot down is butter 🔥 The new heel shocks they added, combined with the foam in the back of the cuff of the inner boot locks my heel down before I’ve even done up a lace or strap. Absolute bliss, I have never had a boot so comfy. Intuitions are good in them.. but the stock boot is incredible!! Great review

Knowing what I know now, my only regret with the Factions is that not pulling the trigger when they were taking pre-orders! I got lucky on Blade Trade with a pair in mint condition w/ Fruit Tech upgrade. I've been skating them as is with stock liner & I don't feel the need to deviate from those. I've got mine paired with some Super Fluid IV's & I couldn't ask for more. I'll be grabbing another pair when they drop another batch.

I didn’t like the look of the skate at first but after some wear down they look much much better, thanks for the long term review, by the way you definitely need some tattoos bro, you are a dedicated veteran in our sport now, not just a good guy making some skate videos, tattoos make a difference, your next upgrade.

The v1 cuff is “off the shelf”. The v2 one (at least as planned) will actually be designed by Faction. Honestly pretty good cuff pick for a first model…. If you want the souls slightly faster (or rather to not stick if you get 100% vertical and get a ton of surface area), dremel a couple mm off the area between the front and the back (maybe not quite at the edge where backslides are), like how all the old skates had a front and back soul and it wasn’t connected. Just one idea…. PS. I love the forward flex, went to faction to get something that didn’t feel so constructive like a plastic box on my foot…

Great review, really interested in these are they look like a cross between the Seba CJ and the original Seba High from way back in the day. Love the CJ, but since gutting them, the cuff area feels too bulky with the intuition liner plus the boot being high. Have you had a chance to try these out in a big wheel setup?

How do you heat mold these? I tried at 180 f for 15 mins and felt like they didn’t move.
