I collected my v2 Ostro black edition bare carbon last Friday from the Vires Velo studio near Norwich. It’s a wonderful looking frame which i understood to little lighter than the v1 model, but the new black inc wheels are superb next level. They are 1270g for the 48/58 pair, which as a full build is where the main weight saving comes from compared to the previous bike. Can’t recommend Vires Velo enough…great people, giving great advice, were very patient and also did my bike fit for me which gave me the confidence that I was getting the best fit for me! My bike weighs in at 7.2kg for a size 58 (I’m 6’3” tall) with full dura-ace group set (semi compact chain ring with a 11-34 cassette), 175mm crank, 120mm stem, a carbon railed sella Italia slr boost saddle and tan walled Vittoria Corsa pro tyres with TPU inner tubes. Been out on it for a couple of decent length rides so far, and wow…power transfer is fantastic and it’s certainly a great fast comfortable bike!

Ah nice- thanks for dropping the weight in here. Will pin this 📍 It looks like an awesome bike and can’t wait to head up and do a review soon

How do you like it so far? Can you say anything about the stiffness.
@martinwiddowson52482 ай бұрын
@@ambulowan I absolutely love it…really smooth and great power transfer. It is quite compliant, but it is stiff….which is what you’d expect and want from a race pedigree bike. It’ll make sure you have the correct saddle!

Interesting Detail with the Battery placement, was not aware of this. Wonder if this has any influence on the stiffness in the BB. The Factor One was always describes as extremely stiff.

In scenarios like this, you can switch your frame rate to 25fps to eliminate flickering. You can enable that in the camera settings if youre using an iphone. Thanks for the quick review!

Unfortunately sometimes if someone is using low energy bulbs you can’t just shoot at 25fps, you can’t change the shutter speed so unfortunately with a GoPro you get a bit stuck with it

very good. I do like the Ostro VAM, even more with the V2. Pity you didn't get to ride it and give us your impression - that's what I was really looking forward to; hopefully in a future vid? There's a German channel featuring a Dura-Ace build of an Ostro VAM. The result is about 7.9kg IIRC. I've been following Vires Velo on here for a while too - seems like a good outfit generally, although it also seems you could just nip in there and steal a bike!

I run a long teng that looks a LOT like the previous generation ostro. Black gloss. I made Tractor decals using their font. With my 300w FTP, on the flat, I'm the group tractor. Frame cost me 500 bucks :) wonderful frame. Long Teng is a large Chinese OEM that makes bikes for western brands, argon 18 being one of them.

I bought the previous gen Ostro from the Norwich store last August in the charmeleon colourway (bluey/purply depending on light). Fantastic bike, though it has been laid up for the last month as the left sram shifter packed in. Not my best financial decision, but can't take it with ya!

I think I’d do a Factor /Sram build. I bet it looks amazing

Except SRAM Red is now 4.5k !! Whereas can get new Duraace for 2.5k - hope the plate for the battery underneath is completely waterproof though 😂

In order to sell the v2 as lighter as v1, Factor made the official announced weight of the v1 heavier. The original weight of the v1 was pure fantasy in the first place, but now the v2 turns out be also 200g heavier than advertised (according to first weigh-ins on ww forum). So the v2 will be heavier than the Venge, but is it more aero? Nobody knows because Factor is too scared to send it to the tour magazine for indepedent testing. I'm not a hater. I own the ostro v1, but the marketing of Factor is a clown show. I also don't like the top tube of the v2 as it doesn't look in proportion with the rest of the bike.

I kind of got that impression when they were talking about weight in the store. They didn’t have scales and when I messaged they said “around 7kg. Usually under”
@CerveloS5rider6 ай бұрын
I’ve got a white one with mix of force and RED and with pedals it’s 7.35kg. I’m also running Vitoria Corsa pro in 30c 298g each with 40g sealant per wheel. Only way to get even close to 6.8kg with pedals would be black bike and either dura ace or new red and probably slower and less comfy tyres.
