In this lesson, you will learn how to factor expressions in math. Factoring an expression means that we look for common terms in the expression that can be pulled out, such that when we multiply by distribution, we get back what we started with. Factoring can be used to simplify expressions, solving expressions, and more.

As an adult you should really know that "trust me " usually means "I'm lying but I want you to go with it anyway" but I'm glad you actually do explain the mathematical reasoning instead of just disregarding it.

Give an example of how solving is easier in factored form. I would tell students that a sum is harder to work with and cancel in a fraction compared to factored form.

I've seen this used in applicable terms of finding a missing number in a triangle. If I can learn this, I will feel like the king of the hill. For sure I saved this lesson in my math folder. Thanks Jason.

Maybe you can help me. I'm currently studying to attain a G.E.D, and earlier in the book it said that when simplifying algebraic expressions the largest exponent comes first, then variables, then constants. But now, in the adding polynomials section, the answers are written a^2 + 5a + 4b^2 or 7ef + ef^2 + f - 10 or x^4 + z^4 - z^5..But on the algebraic calculators I use, it says different...

The truth is you fine HAVE to write the largest exponents first but we usually do. That’s the real answer!

I do not understand your model, is this on a DVD a part of your courses? what are the purchased courses? are they just the videos on here?

I do give away a lot of videos on KZbin for free. I enjoy helping people. But it’s only about 20 or 30% of the lessons I give away for free. The rest are all available on the website. The best bet is to become a monthly subscriber and you can just watch anything you want from all classes and everything‘s included. It’s all in the bundle. It’s everything. Tom... if u havn't checked out his website u really should. i was happy to find complete courses for pre-algebra, algebra1, algebra2, advanced algebra... evn geometry, trig and calc too. the best part (for me anywayz) evry lesson has a worksheet i can download with extra problems and ALL the answers are worked out!!! which is really nice! i always get frustrated when books dont show solutions for EVERY problem. thats my pet peeve :)
