Excellent. Thanks for posting. I have a first Gen Coupe, 392 stroker, 373 's, solid rear with Levy 5 link. Would love to get it on a track. What an experience to drive yours on Daytona. Look forward to seeing more. Play safe!!

You should take it out! Lots of great places that are relatively safe to give it a go. Hope to have ours on track again soon and hope to see you out there as well!

Love the sound of that engine, I’d love to go for a ride on the track with someone that can drive I’ve never driven that fast so I’d be a little uncomfortable driving myself

Great driving by the way. I'd be crazy nervous on those steep banks at 150mph

Thank you! Definitely lots of nerves with so many possibilities of things going wrong. Lots of prep plus some hoping for the best is about all you can do with a new car on that track. Thanks for checking it out and subscribing!

To those unfamiliar with the history, Pete Brock designed the original car at the age of 22 using captured German WWII documents on aerodynamics. Let that sink in.

WoW That Nissan Ultima rear view mirror is better than the crummy original. Same goes for used Ford Explorer seats off Ebay any day.

@@rx7autoxer So did you build the Daytona? I built the car in my profile pic, FFR4277K, back in 2007 but sold it shortly after completion. I need to build another one, or maybe GT40 this time. 👍🇺🇸

This video does not have enough views! Any details on the build process you'd be willing to share? What gen coyote motor is this and is this stock? What suspension are you using in the car and what is left to be desired? Thanks for posting this :) building my own daytona coupe is a dream car for me and it seems you've done a very good job.
@rx7autoxer Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the kind words! I should really create a walk around video at some point to show additional details of the car but I’ll add some quick details below. It is a Gen 2 coyote engine, bone stock other than the necessary headers and intake that you have to use to fit the body. Suspension is the factory five racing standard coilovers and their ARB kit. Lots left to be desired there. It just generally didn’t seem well thought out for absolute performance or track pace. Works just fine for the street but we are constantly chasing balance of the car. The car is very cool overall and meets it’s purpose well. That said, body work on these things are brutal during the construction phase. They are quick on track, but could be a lot faster with better suspension and brake development. We use the FFR Wilwood 6 piston kit up front and the 4 piston in the rear. It works pretty good but always fight pad knock back. Rotors are drilled which means they like to crack under track use…and the friction rings(rotors) are silly expensive to replace. Heat management is okay but it’s taken a lot of post construction work manage the temperatures. There are a few other things we are regularly chasing but overall it does well. Feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions and i will try to make a walk around video soon. Thanks again!

I’m surprised that they would allow suction cups to hold equipment on the windshield. Could be pretty dangerous.

Is that a 15 inch or 16 inch steeling wheel? Do you remember the brand?
@rx7autoxer2 жыл бұрын
It was the wheel that was included with the kit from factory five racing. I can’t remember the diameter. I’ll have a look and get back to you. So sorry for the absurdly long delay in reply! I don’t believe i ever got a notification when you originally asked, my apologies!

Thank you so much! This was a NASA day if I remember right. If you google nasa racing, you can see their event schedule. There are several groups that run track days like “just track it,” “open throttle track days,” “scca,” and many others.

What was Your top speed around the banking? I have wanted to build a Factory five for years!!
@rx7autoxer3 жыл бұрын
About 152mph before braking into turn 1. I think there is a lot of drag under the car still due to the body design but hoping to find a way to flatten out the underside to reduce that drag. It should be faster with for the power it has and the weight it lacks. Thank you so much for the kind words, feel free to reach out if you have any questions about the build!
