About 20 years ago, I had friends that would buy old Villas, do them up and sell them. She did the finishing, and planning, buying, he did all the drafting, building, plumbing work himself. He would do the opposite, pour concrete into styrofoam walls, then clad w wood, to match the existing Villa. Very cheap, back then, and warm.

are those prestressed slabs? is it why they are upward bent since there is a force within the slab. First, strands pulled by hydraulic jacks, when released, transfer the force to concrete through friction when it already matured. after this process the slab can carry extra load!

How can styrofoam rot when they make coffe cups from it ? 😂
@Greguk4442 ай бұрын
@@WANDERER0070 the cups are coated with a plastic film that’s why they are difficult to recycle. The styrofoam will break up into bits and powder and crack apart after a year or so due to damp, cold, heat, it then gets attacked by mould. So, I don’t think using this in this situation is a good idea
@tkh2944Ай бұрын
@@Greguk444The foam already encased/sealed in concrete. Also, it has no structural purposes. It's purpose was to create an easy to produce lightweight core to the structure. Even, if the foam can disappear after building whatever they want to build, it doesn't impact the structure.

Love the ignorant comments on this. The only thing I saw wrong is how the vibrators are being used to consolidate. Mix design looks to have a HRWR to allow for flow, so “not too much water”. Using polystyrene is a common material used with concrete these days. Prestressed beams, all good.
@TutterzoidАй бұрын
The sides of those slabs should be about an inch thicker , as that reinforcing metal inside that concrete is now too close to the edge of the concrete and with break the concrete Prematurely because of that :(
