This is nothing. Cues with points and actual inlays are way more intricate. High-end cues take a long time to make. The shafts are cut little by little and left to rest for months so they stabilize. Cues made like this will more than likely develop a "roll" aka go crooked.

I worked for a US company, doing inlays on their cues. Those looked like they were using cocobolo, a Brazilian hardwood. We made a lot of butts from it. Mostly we used Birds-eye and Tiger maple, and ebony. We made a cue for hustlers. It looked like a standard off-the-rack, one-piece, poolroom cue. It was really a custom made balanced and weighted two-piece cue.

If this is Asia, Japan...etc. The white wood could be: Isu, loquat and/or camellia. Isu being the hardest of the three. But in this day and age they could very well be importing Hard Maple and Ash from North America. The color woods, they have great variety to choose from.

Speaking as a retired guitarmaker with over 2 decades in the woodworking business, you're utterly wrong. Every single tiny step - every single simple-appearing motion - has pitfalls. And, there were a number of steps not shown. We're not even including the setup, tool maintenance, sharpening, and production engineering that went into it. And, lastly, wood is a very uncooperative material for precision work. Finding, drying, milling and working the right woods while ending up with a cue that is still straight requires a LOT of skill and effort.

Superb woodwork. This is ancient technology that makes every screw or spin hit unpredictable. Light a wooden match - it will bend to the sides during the burning process precisely because of the different tension of the fibers.

See this I can possibly justify why it would be a "$1000 billiard cue" because from what I saw I wondered why this was so expensive, was the wood something special? maybe some dark walnut slabs when they made the star pattern, but standard plastic collars, and all of that. Just didn't see the labor or materials cost.

@@Mike__BI do wood turning and there’s nothing special done by these men that given the same equipment I couldn’t do, and I’m legally blind. This story about the cue going into a humid room is bad science, wood will actually bend if the humidity around it is cycled up and down.

Those cues are going to start cracking, warping, and falling apart in no time. There are gaps the size of the grand canyon in those points. Those shafts are going to warp in no time at all, he didn't take them down in enough passes to let the wood stabilize. These are budget cues, not $1000 cues.

It looked like the entire butt was made from 1 piece of wood. Normally a high end cue is 3 pieces, the forearm, handle, and butt cap.
