My Aunt has FOP. She's been in a wheelchair since she was 6 or 7. Just last year she celebrated her 40th birthday, which is a rarity for people with FOP. In July/August, She was in the hospital for a week and a half because she got slightly ill. These days it has gotten worse for her :(. She cant even build legos, which was one of the only fun things she loved to do. I know her time in this world will become harder and harder and she may leave for heaven someday soon. I really Love her. She gave me some of the best childhood memories. Love you EB

The thing about horses throwing up is somewhat wrong. When a horse get anything in its stomach it’s called a colic and they can be stopped by a shot, water and Celine getting flush in there nose and stomach or a surgery. And if a horse chokes all the food that gets stuck in there throat can also be removed just by a simple procedure and getting flush out by water too. So it can be stopped and it’s not a automatic lay down and died it’s hours of excruciating pain for the horse.

just to reassure folks a bit - colic isn't always fatal for horses (many are, though), there are treatments, depending on the cause of the colic (a catch-all term for gastrointestinal pain), and if/how fast a vet can treat it, they can recover (said treatments can be as mild as giving mineral oil & warm water to help move things along in their intestines, to surgery to remove parts of their intestines, which have died from being twisted) and keeping a colicing horse from lying down, is part of starting treatment, while waiting for the vet to arrive (because while down, they tend to try to roll to relieve the pain, which can cause their intestines to twist) but it is true, horses can't throw up, so if they eat something harmful, they need immediate medical treatment

I’m an Australian, and I can say that I’ve only seen a Gympie-Gympie about once or twice. Sure their painful, but you can easily take a trip to the hospital to get the spines removed. I’ve only ever had one spine in my hand every month or so, but if you tilt ur hand to the side their easy to see and remove yourself. The first few times it was painful 😖 but their like skinny splinters.

I love how i knew about FOP(the stone man illness) because of a book i read. Its an action/sci-fi/advanced world(set in 2460+) and human kind have occupied most of the planets in the solar system and have the technology now to go to other sytems in the universe. And they met up into another computer-based race and now they're waging war against that race. The main character was born with FOP so his parents abandoned him on Astra-2(a planet in the astra system) and the book is basically how he gets an advanced CAD(Combatant Assistance Device) and they are basically technology that humans developed after studying the other race caz the other race is built of the stuff. (i still dont understand where the CADs really come from. Only the first books is out and they didn't go in depth with the war or CADs yet). So its like a game setting-ish and his CAD-shido has an S rank for growth and F everywhere else so yk its a lot of training for him to catch up to everyone who's assigned a CAD. The CADs tho, genius technology. They genetically modify, cleanses, fortifies and heal the host so the main character? No more FOP symptoms by the end of the first book. My dog isn’t interested in dog toys, really. When she wants to play, she gets us to chase her by picking up something. She usually ends up picking up a sock but even if it’s her toys we chase her because it makes her happy.
