"Tonight...we have a really big shoe! A really big shoe!" Ed must have read the Bible a lot (?), or he wouldn't have said the word "shew", all the time! (Just joking.) (You younger people will not get the point!)

I didn't know any of these things about Ed Sullivan. I've seen trailers of "The Ed Sullivan Show". I never thought he was notorious for anything. Also, he was born the same year Walt Disney was born! It is sad that he passed away. I noticed him smoking during the video so he must have been in the hospital for that. God bless him!🙏

As someone who watched Sullivan weekly in the 60's, it does not surprise me at all he was an introvert. And you could easily sense he was nervous and uptight. Nonetheless, his bringing all kinds of acts to his show broadened America's cultural landscape greatly. His interfaith marriage was also a bold step for both individuals.

Actually, to me The Ed Sullivan Show exemplifies the perfect marriage of color TV, popular music and the impending psychedelia of the 60s with the amazing and artistic set designs for most of the numbers!

That was an interesting biography. I enjoyed learning more about Ed Sullivan. Strangely though, you showed 3-4 clips of Sullivan talking with Fidel Castro but never mentioned it in your dialogue. Yet mentioned how Ed hired a PI to track one of his daughter’s boyfriend as a suspected communist sympathizer. But not one mention of Castro. That was odd.

@sallykohorst8803, actually Sullivan had little interest in the "bugs" as he called them. Sid Bernstein paid the group $6,500 of his own money to appear not only on Ed Sullivan, but Carnegie Hall three days later. CBS, not Sullivan, later paid Sid partial commercial proceeds earned from the Beatles appearances. Sullivan had little to nothing to do with who appeared on his/CBS' show.

Ed Sullivan's TV show presented the viewing audience "a totally different side" of Ed. In his personal life, he seems as though he trusted very few people, was more or less anti-social in his off screen behavior and spent a lot of time in deep thought by choice. Very interesting video Facts Verse, thank for sharing the information with us. 🤔
