Messi can pass, dribble, shoot inside and outside the box, curve the direction of the ball, and playmake, could CR7 or Ronaldinho do that on the consistency that Messi did? Ronaldinho is the actual challenger here, not Ronaldo. It is harder to compare Ronaldinho and Messi though, since Ronaldinho was more of a midfielder and Messi is more of a forward, so the shooting thing is kind of unfair, but their playmaking is a fair comparison. But on the other side, I'm pretty sure he said Messi was better than him, which would imply that Messi certainly can do many things that Ronaldinho did, and in some things Messi was even better.

If you want fancy shots by Messi, you can see his finesse or chip goals. Also, simple is an opposite from accurate? Because that's what I understood from that comment. And Messi is more accurate with shots, too, just look at Ronaldo who has done 1.3 more shots per game this season in the domestic league yet at the same time he has the same amount of goals. You can only understand the psychology if you are a defender or soccer player. When you have a a player you already know is exceptional on the pitch and you are responsible for getting the ball off him or stopping him, you are in different state of awareness and probably too self-conscious of the responsibility to the point that the "fear" of him getting the ball pass you eventually get the better part of you. That is why it looked unreal as those defenders fall pass him like packs of card, because they are already done before he got to them. Why? Because they were just being too careful and were thinking too much. Unlike them, Messi was in a state a UFC fighter, Israel Adesanya, call the "god mode", no thinking, just pure instinct at an extreme and almost non-human level of awareness. In that state, he is not thinking or second guessing himself or asking what direction to go or turn, it is only his senses working in an extremely "fluid" state. Messi did so many combination drills taught in Ball Mastery programs, it just a matter of identifying the moves and tricks. He just has a different repertoire of compared to Neymar, Ronaldinho CR7.. He did the "Maradonna Turn", "The Cruyff", his favorite combos are croquette slides with sidestep pushout, which are precursor pattern moves to the scissors and step overs.. He did L moves, pull push, pull-in pushout, double sidestep pushout, and does lots of cut in then push forward, or combo of a cut in, sidestep feint then croquette slide.. There's nothing simple in those, these type of moves require tons of repetition to master, as individual moves, then to creating combination moves of his choice. And combined with running, sprinting, lateral agility, quick stops, hops, quick change of direction and timing of his passes as well as parrying the opponents and arm control as he puts opponent at arms length away to create space..
