At 3:18, he tackled him and held on to the ball... Remember to score a try you have to ground the ball. Faf held on to the ball preventing the other player from grounding it (scoring the try)..

The ball must touch the ground for a score, Faf kept the ball up.

Yeah - so if the tackler stops the attacking player from touching the ball down on the ground (scoring the try), it's "held up" and then the tacklers team will get the ball. 3:23

In order for a team to score a try (touchdown equivelant), they need to touch the ball behind the line in the "end zone" while making contact with his body and the ground at the same time. What Faf did was held the ball up from touching the end zone area

BTW my coach told me to look up to him because rugby is a sport for all sizes but it is a contact sport ,he is a role model for all the short kings that play rugby.

In rugby you have club teams. Out of the club teams the best players get chosen in their respective positions to represent their country. South Africa's team is the Springboks where as the USA's team is the Eagles. South Africa has many club teams like the Bulls in the Northern part of the country and the DHL Stormers in the Southern part. Almost like Washington in the North of USA and Texas in the South.

Ok so quick rundown of positions: 1 Loosehead Prop, 2 Hooker, 3 Tighthead Prop ,4 Lock ,5 Lock, 6 Blindside Flanker ,7 Open Side Flanker, 8 Eighth Man, 9 Scrum Half, 10 Fly Half, 11 Left Wing, 12 Inside Center, 13 Outside Center, 14 Right Wing, 15 Full Back then your subs are from 16 to 23 and can consist of any position, after any try you get a conversion attempt,a kick through the poles, which is dependent on where the try is scored that's why they move towards the middle when they score a try, also the springboks is a international team, so the team is chosen based on performance in the club games our rugby clubs are like the redskins or dallas cowboys they are clubs in different leagues and the springboks team is drafted from these clubs based on player performance

You have to apply downward pressure on the ball to the ground score a try. If the other team is under the ball or rolls you over and you cant do that then its no score.

the rules say that you have to put the ball to the ground without losing control of it in order to score a try, thats why they all jump, because while in the air theyre not allowed to tackle you. so what faf did was, he tackled him before the try line and then held the ball up, therefor its held up and not a try.

In rugby you have to ground the ball to get the try, you cant just run into over the try line (end zone)

The ball has to be grounded in the goal area so if a tackler holds the ball up to prevent it from being grounded it is no try.

The ball has to touch the ground with his hand on it to qualify as a try.

Hi, You have to place the ball on the ground , not just go over the line for a try(your touchdown). Its called "held up" Faf stopped the guy touching the ball on the ground .
