We went back and filmed the volcano again, this time at night! Volcano night time drone shots along with some bmpcc4k footage using telephoto lenses.
I filmed the volcano in Iceland with a dji Mavic Air drone. I also used a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k ( amzn.to/3xkwolH )
All other vlog clips are with iPhone 12 pro and GoPro 9

How amazing it must be to have your geologist father along to explain geologically what is happening there (and throughout Iceland being on a hotspot in the mid Atlantic Ridge and where two tectonic plates are separating etc), as well as your proud mother and lovely gf. I enjoyed your walk in from the carpark and your evening drone shots were spectacular. I subscribed immediately and I look forward to seeing the regular updates of this awesome event that the combination of people with technology and creativity and energy can bring to us who are located all over the world. I was in Iceland back in 1985 and spent an entire Saturday evening watching films of the volcanoes of Iceland made by a local film maker. It certainly sparked my interest in geology. Greetings from the Train Lord in Australia.

Thank you so much Train Lord! Really happy to receive your encouragement. We are going back tomorrow for some daytime filming and this time my dad will add commentary. He even prepared a shot list to add context to his geology lecture. 1985! That's before I was even born. Hope Iceland treated you well back in those days! Catch you on the next video ;) -Jon

Wow! Well done, great job everyone! Indeed, that appeared to be a very steep climb, and carrying all the gear, too. Exhausting. Your nighttime drone footage was spectacular. It presented a whole different view that can’t be seen during the daytime. It appeared like a huge caldera with spurting towers & bubbling bowls of lava overflowing making huge snaking rivers of orange lava. Incredible. Terrifying. I wondered how you were going to descend safely. Reflective polls; they thought of everything. Headlamps, flashlights, you were well prepared. The picture of the line of people descending behind you, the bobbing headlamps with the orange glow of the volcano in the background. Great shot. I’m glad I watched. I have a new perspective. Looking forward to the third video with your Father. Hi, to your Mom. Exceptional video. Thank you for sharing. Take care, stay safe.

I can not find any word to say except stunning MAGMA eruption and flow which I have never seen in my past time for over 65 years! You are very very lucky this time to record the eruption as the site is easily accessed any time without any government restriction while the most of the eruption in Iceland is too far and difficult to reach the site under the weather condition of deep and heavy snow which can be reached by helicopter only which is more expensive than 4K or 8K drone! You are also lucky the eruption continues for more than one month which is also very rare to last so long period due to HOT SPOT type. I wish I were there but it may be possible if the eruption stays for half to one year more while COVID-19 fly away. JON-san, Excellent job. ! Best regards from ISAMU from JAPAN.

@@JonBear Hi, JON-san. Thank you very much for your kind reply! I am sorry for the late reply. When I was watching your 2nd video of the eruption, I was wondering that there were 2 ladies in the video and I was not sure if the Japanese lady=HANA-san? was your wife or another western lady. Since you told me that you live or lived at FUKUOKA HANA-san must be your fife and if it is true, you are also lucky that you have married such a tender and attractive lady. Speaking of your father as a geographer, I remember now when I visited Iceland last time more than 30 years ago, I met and visited one Icelandic gentleman who was a the successor of the photography business from his father. When I asked him to get their home address so that I could send him a Christmas card then he told me a joke that he knew many people who chase for volcano eruption and some of them suddenly kept silent due to death...? At the same time, he gave me the address of Mr/MRS K & M KRAFT french volcanologists but since I lost the address I failed to contact them. I would be also killed by a pyroclastic flow if I became a friend of them by his introduction about 2 years later when they visited Mt. Unzen as it would have been sure that I was their guide to take them to the eruption site. Speaking of Fagradalsfjall eruption, It may continue the eruption for a long time as your father guessed and may form the strat- volcano-like Hverjall near Myvatn since it seems no more such large and long fissures like KRAFLA great fissure eruption in 1977 Sep as there is little eruption power to brake or dived the land by crack due to hot plume activity is not strong enough. So I am looking forward to meeting you someday if the eruption continue or if not we can meet somewhere else including in JAPAN if both of you are interested in the volcano or hot springs=ONSEN you can visit me in INDONESIA where I bought a 1H hot spring lakes and land to start working on the project the Japanese style resort as soon as KOVID-19 is over though it is far smaller than the Blue lagoon but those are 3 natural thermal lakes. I hope we can share the pleasure of the volcano issue and talk about it in the future through my life may not last too long from now as I am already 78 years old. It is my greatest pleasure to be acquainted with your family and being friends for the rest of my life with my wife HIDEKO together. I have also E-mail and SKYPE, WHATSUP or LINE and my E-mail's address is isamukitafuji@hotmail.com for future communications. Jon Bear Very nice work thank you . It is always good to see these events from people like you that other wise I would never be able to see well I suppose there would be a few pictures on the news . I told one other person this please copy right your video's . You work hard to produce great content. I don't like it when people swipe content to try and make money on You Tube with it . What a family outing for the memory book and I really look forward to dad's thoughts on this .Again Thank You !!!

Thank you Felicia. I actually came across two other videos that stole my footage without any mention or credit so I will take your advice and add my branding to them. I honestly don't mind people using my footage if they just simply give credit 😊

Great drone shots to see the groupings and particularly the places we can't see with the mounted cams. Would really appreciate including the date filmed in the description, as you did note it changes very rapidly from day-to-day.
@JonBear
@JonBear 3 жыл бұрын
Good idea I will add the date. I mention in the video that it is April 20th. The first video was filmed on March 21st - so exactly a month apart. I hope to monitor the volcano as it develops.

That is about as awesome as it gets. It's surprising that that white hot spots blow out the image where they are. The smoke, is that red because of the redness of the lava flow, reflecting light , or is the smoke actually red... Anyway, you are in the right place at the right time, no doubt you'll go back a few more times..
