FAIL - Stuck! | Aritco Platform Elevator @ The Terrace, Wellington CBD

Well, I certainly wasn't expecting that! I got stuck down on the bottom floor because the top floor was locked! (Or maybe a broken door operator causing the door to not shut properly on G?) Although I did find a way to get back up - just call somebody to call the lift back up for me! If you notice, the bottom floor is the path that gains access to 142 Lambton Quay and the KONE M-Series elevators there - sadly I currently do not have a video of them as the video I took was unusable as I filmed it on my cheap, crappy camcorder. I believe the platform elevator was added in later for disabled access to the building (since you need to walk up stairs to get to the main entrance). If you also noticed, the floor numbering is wrong - -1 and 0 not 0 and 1!

My very first platform lift nearly got me stuck! When I tried to get out after a cab view, it closed and I tried to manually push the doors open, but the door operator tried to shut it midway through! It finally let me out after I pushed G again. When getting in, I had to use the emergency stop button to get it to reopen as well.

@@t3224.elevators_nz LiftShop. I only managed two rides on it because people probably would get suspicious of why their platform lift was making so much noise. Unlike this one, this platform lift remembers calls. I tried three times to get the door to reoopen at G, but it ignored it, even when the doors were shut.

@@t3224.elevators_nz Yeah. One platform lift in my former school slid upwards when a boy mashed the down button. It was screw drive and manual (deadman control).

Oh wow! That’ll teach him not to spam the button on a lift like this which I assume you also have to hold the button down for it to move (?)

@@t3224.elevators_nz Yes. Many students in my old school were terrified of them; it wasn't uncommon to hear people (particularly girls) scream in them. They were cheaply built and noisy, but that's part of the fun! (But not it sliding upwards when going down, obviously)

This lift made awful dodgy noises when I rode it so I let go of the 0 button then held the 1 button
